Water Chip? Been There, Done That
Some British designers decided to copy a scene from Saving Private Ryan
The real Attack of the Clones :)

Hey, well done, that's a good piece of work. It is amazing what you can do with computers and today's special effects technology. And a lot of hard work too! :)

Pretty gorram cool.

How many people are usually used for giant scenes like that? I know in LoTR they used a hundred or so, and then just made the rest with CG...

That's f'in amazing! Just three guys and lots of work with computers and you get a scene with hundreds...very inspiring to any small time producers I bet.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

well, how do you think most movies do it? the ones that dont have the budget for 1000 extras and costumes anyway (not everyone's name is Spielberg)...

Still kinda looked like a History channel drama documentary. They could really have made the explosions a lot better, and added a lot of film grain, not to mention used a few filters (especially color filters).

Then again, I guess they just wanted to prove a point.

They weren't trying to make it look like real historical footage from the looks of it. They were trying to make it look like a high budget movie mimic with really limited resources, or atleast close to one. And they DID use color filters, btw. Thats how they got it to look overcast in the final footage, they either adjusted the color channels or overlayed it with color :P My only gripe was tank traps, and how they did all look like the same tank trap regurgitated over and over again. They could have also added a tiny bit of off-focus blur for some of the people running across the beach, to give a greater illusion of depth. But they're the pros, not me.

In any case, I wonder why this is labeled "scene from saving private ryan"?
That isnt the scene from saving private ryan.
They're both d-day, sure, but they are clearly not the same scene.
