Im thinking Event Horizon and similiar. Are there any more movies that manages to scare the shit out of you? I dont want as much alien directly as Event Horizon psychological scary.

I would recommend Demon Seed (1977), Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970), Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984) and Planet of the Apes (1968), Westworld (1973). If i remember any more ill be sure to tell you.

God Event Horizon was the biggest pop of poo a movie could ever be... "It's OK, we're going to be all right."

... ... ... HOW THE HELL DO YOU END A MOVIE LIKE THAT?!

It needs to be redone but I vote for a Steven King flick. Now a days Langoliers and The Stand are more funny then they are scary.

The Thing from John Carpenter
Alien
Anything from David Cronenberg - Videodrome, Scanners, Dead Zone, Fly etc.

I agree, the ending was comparable to that one of Fallout 3. But still, the script was not bad in the beginning.

Brainscan (1994) with Edward Furlong is one of my favorite sci-fi thriller/horror of all time.

I guess it depends on how much horror you need it to be. I found that 2001 and Sunshine both had enough suspense and horror elements to them for me, but I wouldn't call either one a sci-fi/horror film.

I am a big movie buff so here goes my sci-fi horror list.

Alien
John Carpenters Thing
Event Horizon
Omega Man
Scanners
The Blob
Moon
Cube
Donnie Darko
Dreamcatcher
The Stand
Equilibrium
Pitch Black
Predator

Not all are terribly scary, but I enjoy them.

Thing is great, even if it is bit "old". Scary , as it leaves the ending open, and has that no one can trust anyone thing going on.

Pitch black is good also.

Random:"mac wants the flamethrower!" "mac wants the WHAT?"

Jacob's Ladder. The hospital where all the veterans are at is a pretty scary place, IMHO.

Lately, I've been enjoying an awful lot of movies with Tim Robbins in them. Re-watched The Shawshank Redemption (brilliant), saw Mystic River (good, but not that memorable as a whole), Jacob's Ladder (good stuff) and yesterday Noise, his newest movie (very entertaining, although nowhere as good as Shawshank).
A really good actor, that Tim Robbins. Never really noticed him before, but he's really good.

I really don't understand why people like Event Horizon. It's just...it's a piece of shit. God dammit.

The Solaris remake is scarier than Event Horizon. I think that movie is actually pretty scary just in terms of the great atmosphere it has.

I couldn't agree more. I hated Event Horizon. If I could go back in time and prevent it from ever existing, I would. It's nothing but a bad Hellraiser ripoff set in space.

I like Alien and The Thing. I haven't seen Solaris.

I saw Sphere on TV a couple months ago and thought it was awful. Supernova, Leviathan, and Species are all pretty bad too.

You have to be able to distinguish horror from sci-fi horror. Alien, for instance, would qualify as both, Aliens would probably be more sci-fi.

One of the more juicy horror sci-fi is the old Galaxy of Terror- totally a B rate movie, but pretty goof.

From what I gather there is a worm tentacle rape scene in that one. Maybe I should check that one out. Nothing like a tentacle rape scene to start the week off right.

Event Horizon scared the shit out of me when I saw it when I was in grade 9 or 10...
