Shadow Vault First Look

no in tactics. its not the story of the game because the only bomb ive seen is the one i stole from the zealous ghouls who thought it was god and called it plutonius.

I've gotten ahold of this game and will write a review later, so far I'm not impressed at all at this game.
Compared to all of the other PA games that have come out, it's pretty good though. Hopefully Bethesda follows suit in not making FO3 really resource intesive, I don't want to have to buy a new computer to play it. Shadow Vault may, or may not be a great game overall, but it runs well, with no choppiness, and high resolution graphics.

Sadly, Bethesda is known for "pushing the envelope", graphically speaking. Even Arena sported relatively cutting edge graphics back around it's release.

I have a feeling they'll be minimally consulting with Troika/Obsidian to keep the feeling of the FO Universe intact (good), but that it will be made in either first or third person 3d and built around a "you will be able to play this game smoothly a year after it's released, suckers." mentality, ala TES: Daggerfall & Morrowind (not so good).

Odin, what's your final verdict on SV as a game, as opposed to as a successor to the FO series? I'm a bit hesitant to buy it, but I could use a quality TBS fix.. and all the better if it's a relatively well done PA TBS.

Sorry to disappoint you, but this is what Fallout 3 will probably look like:

I have this weird hunch that it will be resource intensive...

I think the only good way to deal with Fallout 3 will be to ignore what it's supposed to be and neglect its existence as part of a series.
That was how I dealt with Fallout Tactics and even more with Fallout BOS.

It'd still be a fucking shame though and enough to make them lose most existing Fallout communities (or at least those they haven't lost already).

Right now I deal with Fallout 3 by ignoring it altogether. I can still get worked up when they start showing trailers and call it "revolutionary" or "epic" or some such.

That would make me throw up rather than get worked up. Last thing I want to hear are superlatives. No game I've been interested in that has been showered with superlatives by the developer, publisher or media has turned out good so far.

It's pretty, but that's NOT the Fallout I want to play.

Damn you Bethesda.

Um... Pope, you do know this is a screenshot from Oblivion, right? As far as we know, Fallout 3 will just use the same engine, without featuring ancient ruined temples and golden statues.

I consider release of the Oblivion screenshots to be the only good Fallout-related thing to happen ever since Van Buren was first announced. It's anybody's guess in which unspeakable ways Bethesda will rape Fallout 3, but now we can at least count on one thing - it will look very, very pretty.

Yep, I knew it was Oblivion, and I've pretty much lost hope that F3 will be anything resembling what the fans want, except for the name.
