Should you really even bother?

I actually have made a point of fidning alternate ways to get to the strip from Goodsprings everytime I start a New Game, if the alternate paths are too hard for you, maybe you just need a hot cup of GIT GUD.

Exactly. I take a new way every time.

Pretty much the only really areas you really need to avoid on the way to Freeside are immediately north and NNE of Goodsprings right? Like you should avoid the Deathclaw Promontory, Dead Wind Cavern, and the Nuclear Test Site if you're a low level player trying to get to the strip, but they're unlikely to be on your way.

Yeah the road and the cazadore infested tribal village. You can totally sneak your way to the strip at level 1, there's really only some cazadores on the road, one death claw roaming around near some mountains and the raiders in Bonnie springs between goodsprings and the strip.
 
Or if you have the curiors stash take em out whith the grenade launcher.
after that you have som "Meh" loot. sheaking.
