So if I remember correctly, the transition to nuclear from petroleum only began following the war between the Middle Eastern Union and the State of Israel(in which both used limited atomic weapons).
Also yet again, if I'm recalling correctly the United States Army had to field a lot more power armor faster than anticipated after many armored units were rendered inoperative due to a lack of available fuel reserves. (No doubt this also had a rather adverse effect on the other branches as well).
