So I have a Playstation 4 now

Ha ha nope. They have totally different feels because the combat flows completely differently in a brawler compared to hack and slash. Two different genres. It's like calling golden axe and mortal Kombat the same thing because "it's a sub genre lol"
Hack and slashes and Brawlers are far closer to each other than they are to a fighting game like Mortal Kombat. To the point where I doubt if someone doesn't like brawlers that they'd like hack and slashes, but they might enjoy fighting games.

There's literally hundreds of great games on ps2. Silent Hill 2 to this day still hasn't had a decent remaster.
Sure, but that's not the point. He's already got the PS4, otherwise I'd be right there with you to say get a PS2 instead and work through that library. But he doesn't, it's not what he's asking for, so it's something that just takes more time and effort that he'd probably prefer to put into his PS4.

I'm telling you they ain't even near the same. Literally two separate genres.

It takes no time or effort to buy a thing.

At any rate this argument is pointless because we both agree he should start with the newest one. If you play the first 7 first it really just makes it laughable that they would try to make you sympathetic to such an unapologetically despicable character.

Graves got a point, there are two different sub-genres under fighting and action-adventure games, though I prefer Beat Em' Ups as a legitimate name rather than Brawlers... just saying.

And we all know why... [Glaring at KONAMI Intensifies]
I LOVE Silent Hill 2 as this game is the best survival horror game of all time, even better than Resident Evil 2 (original), Dead Space, Amnesia, and the cheap jump-scares filled with furry machines the game [Five Nights At Freddy's]. (Honestly, that game has a fanbase and it's quite ugly to look at!)
We would love to have a remake to the first Silent Hill, if KONAMI haven't FUCKED UP and wasn't FIXICATED ON GAMBLING!!
KONAMI: "We are moving away from console gaming and focus on making some mobile games for our future" -2015 (released Super Bomberman R, Metal Gear Survive, and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner MARS later on)
THEY FUCKING LIED TO US!!! THOSE CHEAP-ASS MOTHERFUCKERS UP IN JAPAN ARE DESTROYING THEIR OWN GAMING LEGACY JUST FOR GAMBLING...
FUCKING GAMBLING!!! FUCK GAMBLING, FUCK THE CEO, AND FUCK KONAMI!!! (but MOSTLY the CEO)
You feel me, Graves?

Ay I dunno about you but watching this video was wildly cathartic for me

58 minutes of going into exruciating detail about why the silent Hill remasters were dogshit. And that's only part one. Review proper starts at 3:00.

Same tbh
I LOVE Silent Hill 2 as this game is the best survival horror game of all time,
Too many great games in the genre for me to pick a definitive best tbh. Although it's safe to say silent Hill 2 is one of the best games of all time in general.

In the past, I used to have the HD collection along with Downpour but rarely play the HD collection, now they're gone... although I don't miss the HD collection, I still wanted to play Downpour.
In October (about 7 months ago) I bought a PS2 copy of Silent Hill 2, with the Greatest Hits disc in the original box, and I loved it all the way through.
The graphics, the atmosphere, the soundtrack + ambience, gameplay, themes, and its story filled with disturbing imagery and an unsettling plot twist(s). Even the Puzzles are quite clever, especially when both combat and puzzles were given their separate difficulties. (Genius, I must say!) It's like how survival horror was done by David Lynch (Eraserhead & Twin Peaks), it's surreal, yet nightmarish, in the best way possible!

Amen, brother! Along with Red Dead Redemption, DMC3, Fallout, Bloodborne, Fucking Mario, etc.

They also have a pretty good review about why downpour is dogshit
Even though some say it's better than Origins and Homecoming.
Homecoming, I can assure you, is a straight rip-off of Silent Hill 2.
Origins on the other hand, I've never played it. So that's beyond me to talk about it.
Other than criticizing Downpour's technical performance and combat, Downpour was praised for its story and atmosphere.
So you can see why, but to be clear, the western SH games haven't came that close into matching the disturbing, unsettling nature to the classic SH games.
I have the first Silent Hill game on the PS3, but haven't come to finished it. Because of problems with my PS3 that it was replaced for a functioning PS3, much to my mother's rare convenience.
Anyway, I hope there's an upcoming game out there that matches the brilliance of Silent Hill 2. If not, then one can only dream and just wait it out, like me...

Homecoming, I can assure you, is a straight rip-off of Silent Hill 2.
So we're origins and downpour. They rip off the tortured would goes to therapist town bullshit. Literally only 2 did that. The rest were about the cult.
Downpour was praised for its story and atmosphere
Lol ok. Downpours atmosphere was near non existent and it's story is messier than a Damon lindelof production.

That doesn't mean they're masterpieces, I know that!
Homecoming is a rip-off of SH2, including the goddamn cult
Origins, according to Wikipedia, is a prequel to the first Silent Hill
Shattered Memories is an American remake of Silent Hill, only with running involved.
Downpour is polarized by many people, including you and I; some say it's the best Silent Hill since 2 while others say it's nothing but dogshit just like the other western entries. But in retrospective, it's okay...
Book of Memories is the latest SH game and turned out to be the lowest-point of the franchise, other than that is how KONAMI cancelled Silent Hills and removed P.T. from PS store.
We'll never forgive nor we forget about the atrocities that KONAMI has committed against their community and fellow gamers across the world... the CEO is at fault here.
In short, SH Downpour maybe the best western SH, but none of them can beat the classics, especially SH2. So let's come to an agreement...
Five Night's At Freddy's is a shit horror game, and we can see why.

You take that back. Nothing has managed to top those first 3 and a half games.
I'm not saying Downpour is the best SH game since 2, just pointing out on other people's opinions on the game, due to it being polarizing as shit.
To be honest with you, the western SH games are just being made by KONAMI (US), because of KONAMI (Japan) wanted to make more money off of the franchise, without the now defunct Team Silent. Yes, there were never a great SH game since KONAMI killed off Team Silent. Also, do you remember the film versions of it? The first movie was decent enough compared to other video game adaptations of movies, but the second one I haven't seen yet glad I didn't see Revelations. It's shit!
So let's come to an agreement...
Five Night's At Freddy's is a shit horror game, and we can see why.

Okay so I know I'm being a gate keeping asshole but anyone who says anything with the silent Hill brand on it that is 1, 2, 3, or 4 is good is Trumpwrong.gif

BTW homecoming was better than downpour. It certainly had better monster design.

Okay, I can agree on the monster designs part.
Listen, okay Graves? I just wanted a horror game with the influence of David Lynch.
So forget Origins, Homecoming, Shattered Memories, Downpour, and the fucking Book of Memories... they're just inferior and dull compared to the first 4 SH games.
Tell me what game(s) that were influenced by David Lynch and point them out for me, Okay?

Heavy rain
Alan wake
Deadly premonition
Deadly Premonition I will take a gander at!
My brother has Heavy Rain, not too fond of the quick-time events myself.
Alan Wake... close, but not surreal enough.
I will buy Deadly Premonition this year, but not now. Because I'm saving my money on a certain game [RAGE 2, DOOM Eternal, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3, METRO Exodus].
What are your thoughts on RAGE 2, by the way?

What are your thoughts on RAGE 2, by the way?
The first was painfully mediocre then it ended on a cliffhanger. The cliffhanger warrants some resolution i guess but this sequel seems to be going the quake 2 route. I haven't paid much attention to it tbh but I think it's being developed by avalanche studios which developed the mad Max game which was also

But the game seems to be going for insane charm and honestly that can take a mediocre game a long way.
Might pick it up ten years from now. But as is too many future and recent releases I need to grab. Particularly the outer world's and judgement definitely buying those day one. Hell I still havent gotten around to games as old as evil within 2.

Playing Yakuza now and it's a bit hard because there's no dub version and my television is far away on a pedestal but life goes on.

Curse you ADD.

Still having fun!

Sit closer my dude. Trust me the story is worth it.

Interestingly enough the only one that was ever dubbed was the original on PS2. Mark hammil played goro majima.

The creator wanted to simulate the experience of the Yakuza movies he grew up watching and since foreign fans of those Same movie enjoyed them as foreign films he figured his games shouldn't be any different. So that's why they haven't been dubbed in 14 years.

If you like Yakuza, I recommend Shenmue 1&2 HD. They are pretty old games, and I admit the first isn't very good, but there's a fun mystery built up in the story. Plus the dub is one of the most hilariously awful things I've ever heard. Especially seeing as the 3rd is coming out in a few months, it might be best to pick up the first two now so you can catch-up.

Also recommend MGSV, story wise, it's a bit thin for a Metal Gear game (it feels like a 12 hour game stretched out to 50 hours) but otherwise, it's a lot of fun.

Soulcalibur VI is also probably my favourite fighter right now. A huge improvement over 5.

Also Fallout 76.

Correction.

Turns out the legal thriller spin-off Judgement (coming June 25) will be the first entry in the Yakuza series to recieve a dub since the original. I'll still he playing in Japanese though. Anything else would feel wrong at this point.
