So I just had Fallout: New Vegas spoiled for me...

Grimhound

Still Mildly Glowing
Don't expect anything interesting or well-written. The end follows Fallout 3. I'm not going to post it, but I'm relaying a warning to stay away from popular forums or image boards.

If you really want details, message me.

In what way does the end follow Fallout 3? We already know it's perma-end thing, but is it for good reason or is it a writing fuck up like Fawkes not being able to go into the chamber himself?

If you mean that the end follows Fallout 3, because you can't continue playing, then your opinion is fail. :>

There's no way I can really talk about it without revealing it, so I'll just post it. What I know is revealed below. Don't unveil it unless you're sure you want to spoil things.

[spoiler:996eb86a6d]You personally blow up the Hoover Dam. Doing so destroys New Vegas.[/spoiler:996eb86a6d]

Hm, now I hate myself for clicking it, but nothing can be done about that, I probably won't be playing it straight on release day (I have my reasons, one of them being my PC died and I keep postponing the acquirement of a new one, so I ain't pre-ordering it) so it will be spoiled for me anyway before then.

[spoiler:ac19a62f55]Do you know if you have any choice or say in the matter? Can you *do* something else instead or is it a linear ending?[/spoiler:ac19a62f55]

[spoiler:105026b6e8]I have little idea as it was revealed to me by way of a spoilbomb. My best guess is that it would be happening as NCR clashes with Caesar's Legion on the dam itself.[/spoiler:105026b6e8]

[spoiler:e96ad493d4]If this is really all you know then, why do you say "Don't expect anything interesting or well-written"? Maybe it plays out well in accordance to the story?[/spoiler:e96ad493d4]

Because throughout the game the dialogue and writing that I've seen has left me jaded and pessimistic. Strangely the pessimism doesn't really soften the soul-crushing disappointment.

[spoiler:969709c930]I know there was going to be a battle at the dam. Did you get this spoiler from 4chan? If so, than I have to give you a little lecture on trolling...[/spoiler:969709c930]

Hopefully this is just a lie, but it doesn't bother me too much, every game has an ending

lol

lol

[spoiler:43dee55e50]just one of multiple endings dude. I was wondering which one you had seen. It isn't the only one according to the cryptic comments my ahole gamestop friend will let drop from the strategy guide. Also, directly unrelated to his hinting at things, we know you can side with New Vegas in the whole battle. I don't think you destroying vegas would happen if you sided with them. I think this is a Caesars legion ending. hopefully one of many.[/spoiler:43dee55e50]

You are aware New Vegas is going to have Fallout 1/2 style endings? In that there are multiple resolutions? I thought this was plainly obvious from the heavy factionalisation of the game's structure.

According to one of my endings in the previous games, NCR shouldn't even exist. Of course, one of them will end up the canon one picked by the developers.

Just in case this spoiler comes from a certain post at GameFAQs, I think it's probably a lie.

My reasoning is in the spoiler box.

[spoiler:9cde242b13]In the post, it's mentioned that the BOS comes to the player's aid in the Hoover Dam battle. Doesn't that seem a bit out of character? And on top of that, isn't the Brotherhood supposed to be on the ropes during New Vegas? Why would they get themselves involved in an all-out war between Caesar's Legion and the NCR?

On top of that, there's the dumb idea that you find out that the faction you're working for plans to turn the Mojave desert in a dictatorship through a letter found on a fallen ally during the battle.

Just in case you want to read the original post on gamefaqs: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/959557-fallout-new-vegas/56786824[/spoiler:9cde242b13]

So I can click the spoiler without doing any harm to my experience? :>

The spoiler mentions the Brotherhood Of Steel acting like the Fallout 3 BoS. At the endgame section, while Obsidian has gone so far as to mention that most players probably won't even meet them. So yeah Lexx, I'd say that you can open that spoiler without it ruining your experience. :)

This indeed sounds like bogus. Especially because we more or less know already that the end fight will have to do with NCR vs. Legion.
