And it seems that raping franchises is wildly popular nowadays.

I mean, the special effects were amazing, stunning, mind blowing, etc. but the movie had nothing to do with original Transformers - the plot is different, for some weird reasons Transformers didn't come to Earth on the Ark, Transformers look like some weird insectoidal robots, not like original, heavily armoured Transformers, they don't have human faces, etc.

It makes me wonder why people make movies based on Comics/Games/Books when they create their own things that are unlike the original...

Same thought about Resident Evil and Silent Hill movies.

It is clearly stated in the end credits that the movie is based on ACTION FIGURES by Hasbro, not Comics/Games/Books, hence invalidating your complaint. I have seen PERFECT renditions of teh action figures there.

And just don't get me started on the thing, man. Though not as bad as Scott Ramsoomair implies, it sucks as a "Transformers" movie, though is par with what I consider a "big robot sci fi movie" nowadays.

And it's good for learning English grammar, e.g. 2nd, 3rd and 1st person (flexion?):

    "Good day, Secretary of Defense"
    "It's the Secretary of Defense"
    "I'm the Secretary of Defense".

And featuring Agent Smith as "I'm Megatron!" in lieu of "I'm Weasel" Weasel.

"It seems you have been living two lives, Mr Optimus. One, of a respected convoy truck. Second, of an interstellar combatant for freedom... "

Pretty geeky though... I stopped playing with that shit when I was 7-8 or something. I don't get the fascination with Transformers.

Silent Hill actually captures pretty much all the atmosphere from the games. Resident Evil, on the other hand, went from Zombies to Supermen (with zombies)

I got PBF for all my transformers needs:

Who needs a movie when there's this?

Perfect renditions of the Transformers The Movie action figures, of course ;) .

Well, it is dreadfully stupid - not as stupid as Coronado, but stupid with all the American movie stupidity, including "cool" weird people, stupid parents (because showing older adults as complete morons is "cool"), and completely flat transformers (especially Decepticons).

I think that movie is meant for kids, so I wouldn't look to deep into it. They probably aren't trying to appeal to us who grew up with the original cartoon.

I thought the movie was awesome, but I watched it mainly because of Megan Fox.

I went to see it only because I wanted to see giant robots destroying things. On the other hand I would prefer something that isn't a rape of franchise - a movie with mech-style walking warmachines for example - and with less stupidity and more gore.

Okay, walking warmachines are stupid by default - how about Very Big Tanks?

I'm still waiting for someone to resurrect the amazon women genre. And preferably not the porn industry. At first.

I really liked the transformers movie. To my defence I never got to play with transformers as a kid so the whole deal was new to me. And I was kind of depressed when I watched it because I didn't have any home at the time.

I loved the beginning - that lone chopper flying into the unsuspecting base of the pathetic human cattle and slaughtering them all was priceless!
I wish the whole movie would be about glorious Decepticons slaughtering the human filth and defeating the Autobot scum.

Can you imagine such exquisite orgy of destruction?

I don't know, sorry to say it but I really enjoyed the movie. Compared to all the other mega blockbusters this summer, it was the only one that didn't really let me down.

However, movie of the summer is still probably Ratatouille

I can't wait for the sequel, what with the Constructicons and Dinobots...

Oh wait, GMC doesn't make a line of dinosaurs...

Though the sequel could easily just consist of Starscream, Barricade and Scorponok emerging from their massive plot holes and wreaking havoc on mankind.

I watched the movie and left the theather with a headache. Too much shaking, too much stupidity. It was probably the combination of both that did me in.

I admire the Decepticon that turns into a Helicopter and kills people.
I want to be like him when I'll grow up.
