So who died... :(

I always like Johnny Cochran. He did a hell of a job defending OJ (considering how damn guilty OJ was).

Yes, we lost Mr. Arnold from Happy Days, Scotty from Trek, Gilligan off the island.

I wonder if Gilligan ever got into a threesome with Maryanne and Ginger. Hope so.

Didn't realize that Max Smart died. Bummer.

The Pope had a certain charm, so I suppose he will be missed. Are we supposed to mourn every semi-celebrity that died? Because I don't. Simon Wiesenthal was a typical hypocrite. And we got rid of some bad American actors, didn't we? I will miss James Scotty Doohan, although I can't think of anyone else... wait, Luther Vandross died? I suppose the death of a talented musician might be considered a loss.

"Beam me up, Scotty!" Ahh, the memories.

BBC news just had a tasteful bit on lots of influential people, including Rosa Parks, the Pope, Lots of politicians and Monarchs. My favorite was a guy, his name escapes me, but he was a Nazi hunter. Which is quite an interesting occupation.

shh, be very, very quiet, I'm hunting Gestapo.

Kerry Packer, the richest man in Australia died recently. I didn't actually like him as he viciously tried to destroy business competitors and left-leaning media, along with his arch-rival Murdoch. But at least he remained Australian. I am happy that his terrible Nine Television Network, the most popular in Australia, is now losing the battle of the ratings. But he did support charities, was a closet intellectual (although I doubt many would say that) and did great things for Cricket, so I respect him.

I have to agree with quietfanatic here, because, as was said, he remained an Australian.

Channel Nine is definetly losing its way here, and now with Packer passed away, it may slip further into the depths of bad television ratings/shows...

An honest policeman in Russia is very hard to find.

In Soviet Russia, the police finds you!

Well, I guess there is a country that is loaded with honest policemen they had stolen from the rest of the world.

From me: Pope, Scotty and Marek Perepeczko, who played Janosik, the Polish (Slovak, actually) Robin Hood on the TV show.

My favorite professor from undergrad died. He taught European history, focused on WWII, which he experienced first hand. Dr. Peterson taught for something like 50 years until he up and died one day from pneumonia.

I drank all week when I heard the news.

Hunter S. Thompson was the big one for me. That really hit me hard, since I'd finally worked up the balls to write to him about a month before and got a great response.
