First time out of the vault
Hi Everyone

I only recently started playing Fallout Tactics, and so far it's going great etc but there are one or two aspects that I don't know about as I don't happen to have a manual.

Anyway, I am now in Preora (sp?) having done the Macomb mission first. One of my characters seems to have a problem from the start of this mission (Rebecca, a sniper type person). She cannot use her weapons, and has numerous stats highlighted in red and drastically reduced. What is going on? I suspect it has something to do with drug addiction, I used some of that bubblegum (Mentat?) in Macomb and it said she was addicted. If so, what can I do to cure her and stop the addiction? She has the flower child perk btw.

Secondly, I have a team member using the Mp5 which obviously uses the 9mm ball ammo. Anyway he can't seem to reload it anymore. Looking at the ammo, I can see it has negative figures for damage and penetration, so are they now useless? And what is all this about heavy grease?

And finally, I'm encountering a shedload of giant cockroaches in Preora, and my team members are constantly getting poisoned. I have plenty of antidotes (I nicked about 10 of them), but the poison doesn't seem to be effecting my team much so I've not been using them. Should I be or is it safe to keep ignoring the poisonings?

Cheers

i never played Tactics but mentats are statsboosting drugs with heavy withdrawal symptoms (your stats will remain low for a while)

little amounts of poison can be ignored, but big amounts are dangerous!

dont know about the mp5 (since i never played it)

Yeah sorry it is afterburner gum and not mentats, I got them confused. I'm about half way through the Preoria mission now and there is still no change in Rebecca's condition, is it just a case of waiting for it go away? Will it keep happening afterwards for the rest of the game?

You gave Rebecca Afterburner Gum and now she's addicted and going cold turkey (reduced stats)? The best way to get her stats back to normal is by wandering the wasteland for days.

If I remember correctly, Rebecca has a rather low endurance (4?), so it's not really smart giving her drugs. If you really want to give her the forbidden fruits of the wasteland, try giving her a Trauma Pack first (boosts endurance).

The MP5 H&K? Dump it, trust me. Regular 9mm ammo is crap because it gets damage and penetration penalties. Go for shotguns or an AK47. An M16 is fairly good as well.

And what is all this about heavy grease?

Uh?

Poison can get you killed, it's that simple. So yes: you should definitely use the Antidote when one of your squadies gets stinged or spit at. Common sense, really.

Uh?
Just part of the description Blade.
"Ancient pre-war ammunition coated in thick grease for preservation"
(or words to that effect)
It's meaningless.

Yes I completed the mission and then drove around for a while, eventually she was back to normal. But can I expect this to happen again in upcoming missions? Or should I leave her at a bunker and get a new person to replace her?

Also, can anyone direct me a guide for all the drugs in fallout tactics? ie there effects and consequences. I have loads of various drugs now but I don't want to use them.

Also one of my characters (Ice) has all her stats in blue (Although they seem to have increased). I can't seem to remember what drugs I gave her, anyone have an idea of what I gave her andf whether or not she will go cold turkey eventually?

If she's clean now, she won't get addicted again UNLESS - of course - you feed her new drugs. In that case she might get addicted again and loose stat points again and so on. If you really hate that, you shouldn't give your squadies drugs in the first place.

Okay, I'm going to be really nice here and give you some notes I jotted down when playing FOT last year. Mind you, though: this list is not complete:

Psycho: IN -3, AG +3, Damage Resistance +50%
Mentats: PE +2, CH +1, IN +2
Buffout: ST +2, EN +3, AG +2
Afterburner: ST +1, PE +1
Voodoo: AG +2, LU +3 (not sure about that last one)
Mutie: ST +4, EN +4, CH -4, IN -4, Damage Resistance +25%

You can take more than one of most drugs, but it's possible to OD and die.

I used Rage to test these drugs (I'm saying this, because it depends on the Endurance stat of the character):

Mentats: 5 doses=OD, 6 doses=dead
Psycho: 2 doses=OD, 3 doses=dead
Afterburner: 4 doses=OD, 5 doses=dead
Voodoo: 5 doses=OD, 6 doses=dead
(not complete)

You can boost the Endurance of a character by giving him/her a Trauma Pack (and yes: you can take several Trauma Packs).

The best drug in the game is - imo - Psycho (DR +50%!!!)

Also one of my characters (Ice) has all her stats in blue (Although they seem to have increased). I can't seem to remember what drugs I gave her, anyone have an idea of what I gave her andf whether or not she will go cold turkey eventually?

Man, if you really hate them stats dropping, then just don't use drugs, it's that simple.
In any case: blue stats are good. And no: I have no idea what you gave the lass, how could I possibly know that?

Or do you mean 'skills'?
Skills (and/or stats) are influenced by armour (metal armour and so on will make some skills drop - like the sneak skill), you know, and by some perks (Team Player, Loner, Leader).

Have fun!

EDIT: It's been a long time since I've actually played FOT (like a year or something), so there might be some mistakes in this post. My memory isn't what it used to be, and the list of drugs is incomplete.

Ice has the loner perk which gives a 10% boost when she's alone.

However, that current perk is bugged and is permanently on, giving a free 10% boost.

The opposite perk, Team Player, doesn't work at all so avoid it.
