some ideas- weapons, character, NPCs, Environment & more

First time out of the vault
Just some ideas that have been floating in my head about FO3.

Weapons:

Melee: I think a wider selection would be great (maybe a super-duper sledgehammer, lol) or a "secret" weapon like the louisville slugger from FO2, maybe a scottish claymore or something (think of Bruce Wlillis's character from Pulp fiction wieldng the samurai blade

Guns: a grenade launcher would be awesome! maybe a paintgun or something as a joke, does 1-2 damage, blinds if shot in the eye.

-You'd be able to upgrade your weapons, for additional range.

-dual wielding of guns, single handed ones thought not plasma rifles,LOL.Say a penalty to hit, but more damage.

-Be able to get armor for supermutants etc.

Drugs:

Cigarettes would be sweet, raises your agility, poisons you after you smoke so many.

A wearable stimpack of some kind, costs you a couple of action points, pumps you full of endorphines and all that good stuff, think Predator.

Poison, in liquid form, have a bottle of the stuff, go slipping it into people's drinks, maybe even coat your weapons with it.

Environment :

More interactive environment, if a guy is standing beside a gas can, you can shoot the gas can so it blows up.

If there is a vent say, you can climb up it and spy on people, shoot them.

Crouching while shooting, crouching lowers your action points but gives a bonus to your armor class.

Aiming, I think this can be expanded, punch a guy right in the jaw, aim a gun at someones kneecaps, shoot an ear off, lol.

NPC's:

I think F02 got it right when they gave NPC's alot more personality, it would be nice to know what happens to them at the end of the game. Like the blurb about Myron from FO2.

I think being able to totally customize an NPC is a bad idea, but maybe having unique racial traits or being able to assigning them unique skills.

Super mutants having a strength of 11 or something, robots have greater damage resistance, ghouls light up at night =)

For skills, say :

Eagle-eye, for human : this unique-biocular implant allows for greater sight and accuracy when using long ranged weapons. Many
a traveller fears seeing its hellish glow from a distance.

Another would be:

Serrated claw for deathclaw:

Though the standard deathclaw limb is more than capable of dismembering most anything, occassionly thought it isnt enough, replacing a talon with our steel ginsung one ensures a clean cut everytime.Heck it will even cut through a steel pipe without dulling, guaranteed.

Character:

This refers back to the npc section a bit.Race would probably be out of the question for the main character, human is the standard, still I wouldnt mind playing as a mega-fist wielding super mutant though =)

I'd for the more geeky RPG approach, being able to choose build type, ie height weight, face etc, maybe race, though it probably isnt relevant.

More equipment slots, say a belt, to holster your mauser 9mm, it'll cost you less to draw than going to your normal equipment.

Nothing like customized boots or anything, just useful stuff, shades maybe ( shoot 'em up in style =)

Story/towns/years:

It definitely has to have a wicked ending boss,I like what other people were saying about the Master coming back (thought how he survived a nuclear blast is besides me) I'd like to see Harold talk to him again, see if he remembers or something...

Also the lieutenant of the army base from F01, he didnt really die (Tony Jay does the voice btw) he is free from the master's control but still wants to lead mutantkind to "greatness", maybe he's hideously scarred or something and pissed, hehe.

I definitely think fallout is getting too civilized, too many cities, advanced technology etc. it would be interesting to visit some of the old locations too.

ex: the brotherhood base in F01, empty and trashed, wtf happened?

The story should take place after F02 (but a prequel appeals to me too). The great, great ancestor, or maybe a complete stranger, something different here would be good.

Special encounters:

They probably wont be done the same way, but I've always wanted to see one of Inspector Gadget, it was a great cartoon before the movie bombed the concept all to hell.

you find a man disguised hydrant or something that talks to you and give you an assingment, hands you a piece of paper, you can read it later, or crumple it up and throw it away and it blows uo,lol.

I always thought Ash from the evil dead movies would be neat, with a unique "boomstick" for you to take by force if necessary =)

Well that's it for now, hopefully you didnt fall asleep, bad first post being a newbie and all.Cheers.

1. Please read other threads before posting redundent topic points.
2. Please have some idea of the setting or else people will tear apart ideas.

I really liked the part about cigarettes raising your agility. But his ideas for Special Encounters take the cake.

Rosh, I'm working on a polish FO mod and I get people posting crap like this everyday.

I'm having a little difficulty convincing them about food... The guy who is getting bashed already ban threatened me. Such people have no idea what FO is about and mostly think that their ideas are "kewl" and will improve the game which gets boring and is limited.

Yeah, right.

dont write so much in one thred no one is going to awnser that.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with long posts.
The problem starts when they are moronic.

I kind of gotten the idea of the thread around that wholel "kewl sword" part.

Dan, if you think that is bad, check this out.

since if you rely dislikes the tred so much. can you tell me whats so wrong whit it. okay maybe it was a bad idea. maybe it vas an horible idea. but i stil think its unfer of you as a modurator to close the thred and then making a exaple of it whitout making a serius koment about it.

I'm starting to be ashamed to be Norwegian, jesus man learn to type english. You've had it in school since at least the fourth grade.

Oh and you should read a little about Fallout before making suggestions, or just play the games.

So smoking a pack will make you move like Superman? If there's anything that will improve agility to a certain extent, it's coffee.

While I wouldn't mind more melee weapons, swords would be silly considering they're uncommon pre-war, let alone hundreds of years later. Just looking cool isn't a good reason to have them. Besides, who would want a claymore when you have rippers?

Melee weapons should fit two types of category in Fallout:

1.) Tools that can be picked up that can be fairly lethal, like the sledgehammers.
2.) Fashioned weapons, like spears. Putting a sharp, jagged blade on a pole is fairly easy to do.

Guns: a grenade launcher would be awesome! maybe a paintgun or something as a joke, does 1-2 damage, blinds if shot in the eye.

What's the point of a grenade launcher when you already have a rocket launcher?

As for "joke" guns, I'd much rather them concentrate on productive things than silly gags. Fallout 2 had enough silly gags for the whole series.

-dual wielding of guns, single handed ones thought not plasma rifles,LOL.Say a penalty to hit, but more damage.

This is covered in another thread.

Be able to get armor for supermutants etc.

Why? Who'd be dumb enough to make a supermutant tougher? They're already a decent match for a typical person in power armor. It'd be foolish to make them tougher.

Drugs:

Cigarettes would be sweet, raises your agility, poisons you after you smoke so many.

Ummm.. As much as I like my cigarettes, I gotta say this is silly.

A wearable stimpack of some kind, costs you a couple of action points, pumps you full of endorphines and all that good stuff, think Predator.

Think superstimpack, actually. Ever looked at one?

Poison, in liquid form, have a bottle of the stuff, go slipping it into people's drinks, maybe even coat your weapons with it.

You can already poison people with various drugs in Fallout, and that leads to some unbalanced situations already. Encouraging this would be an up hill problem stemming from that.

Environment :

More interactive environment, if a guy is standing beside a gas can, you can shoot the gas can so it blows up.

Except there is no gas. That's why there was the Great War, you know.

However, being able to bust down doors with hammers, and making a lot of noise in the process which would alert bad guys to you being there, would be neat. Maybe blocking a door by pushing something in front of it. Things like that would be interesting.

If there is a vent say, you can climb up it and spy on people, shoot them.

Ummm.. Yeah.

Crouching while shooting, crouching lowers your action points but gives a bonus to your armor class.

Depends on how it's done.

Aiming, I think this can be expanded, punch a guy right in the jaw, aim a gun at someones kneecaps, shoot an ear off, lol.

Ugh.

NPC's:

I think F02 got it right when they gave NPC's alot more personality, it would be nice to know what happens to them at the end of the game. Like the blurb about Myron from FO2.

The problem I didn't like about that is it assumed the Chosen One would simply abandon Myron afterwards if Myron was in the party. Who knows? Maybe a good guy Chosen One could turn Myron around by being a positive influence?

I think being able to totally customize an NPC is a bad idea, but maybe having unique racial traits or being able to assigning them unique skills.

Why? They are as you find them.

Super mutants having a strength of 11 or something, robots have greater damage resistance, ghouls light up at night =)

What does this have to do with anything?

For skills, say :

Eagle-eye, for human : this unique-biocular implant allows for greater sight and accuracy when using long ranged weapons. Many
a traveller fears seeing its hellish glow from a distance.

This wouldn't be a skill. It's be an acquired trait.

Are you sure you're not making requests for FOT2?

Character:

This refers back to the npc section a bit.Race would probably be out of the question for the main character, human is the standard, still I wouldnt mind playing as a mega-fist wielding super mutant though =)

Ummm.. Ugh again.

I'd for the more geeky RPG approach, being able to choose build type, ie height weight, face etc, maybe race, though it probably isnt relevant.

No, it's not, but if something like this were implimented, it should probably be based on the attributes than allow them to freely alter what they look like.

More equipment slots, say a belt, to holster your mauser 9mm, it'll cost you less to draw than going to your normal equipment.

Uhh.. Just put the pistol in the other slot. You can switch between those for free.

ex: the brotherhood base in F01, empty and trashed, wtf happened?

Interplay marketting.

Christ, lighten up folks.

If you dont like the suggestions, dont *read* them, they are just things I think would make FO3 more interesting,I'm entititled to my opinion after all.

Yes you are allowed to have your opinion and yes we are allowed to roast your ass on an open fire for having dumb opinions.

If you post your opinions you better be prepared to defend them and don't cry when someone tears'em apart.

Let's examine this, shall we?

First, you posted it on a public forum. Well, not quite public, but you posted it on a forum that is visited by Fallout fans, people who know the game quite obviously more than that of Fallout: POS.

It takes a real foolish person to post something carelessly that doesn't fit and then complain about it.

slicer, there's something called a spellchecker. Seriously, even a halfway decent one isn't that hard to find. It's unfair that I lock it? Hell, it's unfair that I have to put up with stupidity and poor ideas, then have someone whine at me.

How are we going to know if we like them if we don't read them?

I've got an idea.

If you don't want people to read your ideas, you don't post them? Simple concept, I'd figure. Or if they truly are stupid, then you can add a *STUPID* tag into the subject to let the moderators know to toss it into the Vats.
