some ideas- weapons, character, NPCs, Environment & more

Yes,I am prepared to defend them...

Here we have 3 bitter cynical posters.

Instead of say posting their own thoughts they sit on the sidelines and shoot down other peoples ideas, all the while never contributing anything of their own.

So it is a "kewl things I wanna see post" so what? If you don't like my ideas and suggestions, fine, tell me then what *you* think would be good to have in the game then.

I'm not in it for a flame war, if you can believe it, just to bunt around some ideas...

When i read this i couldn`t believe. You see they have been tossing ideas for years now, you can check the archives here or in other Fallout and gaming sites if you want. But that showed the fact that you started posting without having spend some time reading the old posts , knowing how things work, what are new ideas and what was already discussed. There`s a general consensus in many things related Fallout here, but there`s room for new ideas, only you need some time to think them over and express them with clarity.

And you need to toughen up a bit, you`re bound to receive tough responses, just hang in there, say "i never thought about that, you`re right", or "i disagree, but will think a bit more on the subject" is always better than whining.

Then do it. I replied to most every one of your ideas.

Here we have 3 bitter cynical posters.

Which is a cynical thought because you're bitter no one likes your ideas?

Instead of say posting their own thoughts they sit on the sidelines and shoot down other peoples ideas, all the while never contributing anything of their own.

Funny, I even offered some ideas within my reply to your ideas, like the part about melee weapons and interaction with the environment. Miss that?

I'm not in it for a flame war, if you can believe it, just to bunt around some ideas...

Then instead of bitching about the people who replied to your ideas, perhaps you should discuss what the objections are to your ideas.

Re: some ideas

Just some ideas that have been floating in my head about FO3.

Weapons:

Melee: I think a wider selection would be great (maybe a super-duper sledgehammer, lol) or a "secret" weapon like the louisville slugger from FO2, maybe a scottish claymore or something (think of Bruce Wlillis's character from Pulp fiction wieldng the samurai blade
Samurai blades/scottish claymore.. If anywhere in the game maybe some shelled out museum. Though not a weapon you'd find laying about the wastes in wide use -- pretty impractical -- Think of that scene in raiders of the lost ark when that guy was twirling around his falchion and indy just clocked him with the revolver.

Guns: a grenade launcher would be awesome! maybe a paintgun or something as a joke, does 1-2 damage, blinds if shot in the eye.
that's a little overpowered for fallout's world and not very practical for an RPG.
-You'd be able to upgrade your weapons, for additional range.
You can already add your scope to the hunting rifle. If you mean an item system like Arcanum's with a facet for gun smithing yea that would be interesting.

-dual wielding of guns, single handed ones thought not plasma rifles,LOL.Say a penalty to hit, but more damage.
No. No no no no no.
-Be able to get armor for supermutants etc.
Who's manufacturing it? it wouldn't be anything to advanced probably some sort of patched together leather armor or very crudely welded metal armor. If you're thinking combat armor or PA you can forget about it. There's no one that made it before the war, and there sure as hell isn't going to be someone making it afterwards.
Drugs:

Cigarettes would be sweet, raises your agility, poisons you after you smoke so many.
How would cigarettes raise your agility? I'm baffled by the logic on this. Clogging up your lungs == increased aerobic activity? You're silly. The only conceivable thing I could imagine for cigarettes would be +1 chr.
A wearable stimpack of some kind, costs you a couple of action points, pumps you full of endorphines and all that good stuff, think Predator.
eh, no don't think predator -- THINK FALLOUT.
Poison, in liquid form, have a bottle of the stuff, go slipping it into people's drinks, maybe even coat your weapons with it.
coat your weapons yea, great so when you try to handle them you poison yourself LOL!!!! That's a bit fantasy-esque.. poison tipped arrowheads and shit like that. Kind of silly for fallout. There's already poison's in FO2. Remember the mutant serum? Or the poison you use on westin? I remember poisoning lynette too.
Environment :

More interactive environment, if a guy is standing beside a gas can, you can shoot the gas can so it blows up.
Sounds good, though what the hell is a can of gas doing in fallout? did you miss that whole intro movie bit? A can of gas is WAY too valuable to leave laying around for some shit head to shoot.
If there is a vent say, you can climb up it and spy on people, shoot them.
You've been playing too much splinter cell.
Crouching while shooting, crouching lowers your action points but gives a bonus to your armor class.
Stances have already been suggested and were implemented in FOT. I'm sure whoever/whenever FO3 is created will have this in.
Aiming, I think this can be expanded, punch a guy right in the jaw, aim a gun at someones kneecaps, shoot an ear off, lol.
Erm, right.
NPC's:

I think F02 got it right when they gave NPC's alot more personality, it would be nice to know what happens to them at the end of the game. Like the blurb about Myron from FO2.
I always...ALWAYS...kill myron.
I think being able to totally customize an NPC is a bad idea, but maybe having unique racial traits or being able to assigning them unique skills.
I don't like this idea, an NPC should exist independent of the PC. Someone who sees you on your quest thinks it noble and decides to join you.
Super mutants having a strength of 11 or something, robots have greater damage resistance, ghouls light up at night =)
You already had a super mutant in FO2. Same as the robot though I'd change this over for the engineering/science character making those skills more useful. Ghouls...to radiate you. already done in FOT and they're not terribly useful allies. Slow moving, neg reactions from pretty much everyone else.
For skills, say :

Eagle-eye, for human : this unique-biocular implant allows for greater sight and accuracy when using long ranged weapons. Many
a traveller fears seeing its hellish glow from a distance.
This is silly, this is like the dermal impact plates and shit from Fo2. I don't like this bionics crap they're adding. it seems superfluous. Like sci fi stuff without cause for being in the universe.
Another would be:

Serrated claw for deathclaw:

Though the standard deathclaw limb is more than capable of dismembering most anything, occassionly thought it isnt enough, replacing a talon with our steel ginsung one ensures a clean cut everytime.Heck it will even cut through a steel pipe without dulling, guaranteed.
Friendly deathclaws are all dead. The Enclave toasted them. Forget about talking deathclaws. They're out to kill you.
Character:

This refers back to the npc section a bit.Race would probably be out of the question for the main character, human is the standard, still I wouldnt mind playing as a mega-fist wielding super mutant though =)
customization of character / randomizing start ((back story)) would be interesting to do in the fallout environment but it sounds more like you take every game you play and turn it into quake. I wonder if you've ever played through fallout and REALLY explored the non violent routes.
I'd for the more geeky RPG approach, being able to choose build type, ie height weight, face etc, maybe race, though it probably isnt relevant.
This could be interesting if they made it relevant.
More equipment slots, say a belt, to holster your mauser 9mm, it'll cost you less to draw than going to your normal equipment.
What? Fallout 2 wasn't monty haul enough for you already. What the hell are you going to do with more inventory room.
Nothing like customized boots or anything, just useful stuff, shades maybe ( shoot 'em up in style =)
huh.
Story/towns/years:

It definitely has to have a wicked ending boss,I like what other people were saying about the Master coming back (thought how he survived a nuclear blast is besides me) I'd like to see Harold talk to him again, see if he remembers or something...
Poor lil scrap of brain left with the master master master. Transferred to another computer... computer computerr.... lured more more more flesh in .... . will become one one one AGAIN!!
Also the lieutenant of the army base from F01, he didnt really die (Tony Jay does the voice btw) he is free from the master's control but still wants to lead mutantkind to "greatness", maybe he's hideously scarred or something and pissed, hehe.
Na, I killed the lieutenant... killed him dead. DEAD DEAD DEAD. Mother fucker killed dog meat, he had to die. DIE DIE
I definitely think fallout is getting too civilized, too many cities, advanced technology etc. it would be interesting to visit some of the old locations too.
Wow, this is probably the best bit of post. I wish you'd keep this line in mind next time you begin your post. Keep this in mind and read the beginning of your post -- grenade launchers, bionics, etc. Silly no? I'm not trying to flame but its funny that you should "get" fallout after suggesting all that non fallout stuff.
ex: the brotherhood base in F01, empty and trashed, wtf happened?
hmm, no. It would have had to have been a mutiny. I can't see anyone reasonable storming the BOS base. 1) there isn't the tech outside of the BOS base 2) there isn't the military tactics/discipline of the bos outside. How about places like NCR destroyed. Broken apart by its overpopulation in a resource scarce environment. -- how exactly DID they feed all those people?
The story should take place after F02 (but a prequel appeals to me too). The great, great ancestor, or maybe a complete stranger, something different here would be good.
I have no opinion on this, both a sequel and prequel have their pros and cons. Depends how its done though it should definitely stay in the vault lineage.
Special encounters:

They probably wont be done the same way, but I've always wanted to see one of Inspector Gadget, it was a great cartoon before the movie bombed the concept all to hell.
Less easter eggs plz.
you find a man disguised hydrant or something that talks to you and give you an assingment, hands you a piece of paper, you can read it later, or crumple it up and throw it away and it blows uo,lol.
no more easter eggs damnit.
I always thought Ash from the evil dead movies would be neat, with a unique "boomstick" for you to take by force if necessary =)
MAKE IT STOP.
Well that's it for now, hopefully you didnt fall asleep, bad first post being a newbie and all.Cheers.
Yea, bad first post but you did have the right idea when you said -- LESS CIVILIZATION, LESS TECH. MORE SURVIVAL. MORE POST APOCALYPSE.

That's silly as well... I hate smokers. To me, their charisma doesn't improve, even better, it decreases.

So it would really depend on who you are talking to. Imagine talking to Lynette smoking a cig compared to doing the same thing around Lara from the Den. (also depends on their sex)

I always knew that archiving the old boards would have been a waste for some people.

Nonono, when whining, it's always best to complain about the people who make the critique instead of the critique itself!

That's the lesson everyone should learn from Fallout Enforcer!

You got to love those "I can say what I want" posts...

A forum, though, is a private thing, and an admin can ban you because he feels like it.

What is this Fallout Enforcer I hear so much about?

Also known as:

Chucky's Fallout
Fallout: Piece of Shit
And last but not least: "Let's whore the hell out of Fallout"

Sound familiar?

About cigarettes:
They have bean used in (as far as I know) two other computer games (metal gear solid 1/2)
There they increase accuracy when using a sniper rifle.
I don’t smoke so I don’t really know, but maybe cigarettes could be used that way.

About melee weapons:
I support more melee weapons, but medieval swords are just silly.
Technically unarmed is a better skill than melee. So melee should be inprowed.
What I want is a really huge pre war kick ass chainsaw(not like those wimpy thing in fallout2). And maybe some hi-Tech wibrosword for later in the game

*blows a nice puff of smoke in jinxy's face*

I used to smoke, fortunetly, the grueling process of quitting smoking which lasted a few months did not brake me.

Actually, no. When you smoked it helped you to see laser trip beams.

There's only two things I can see cigarettes being included in FO3 in my opinion as a smoker.

1.) Being addicted to something. I never used any addictive drugs on my characters or NPCs in FO1 or FO2, so I can't see why I would start with cancer sticks.

2.) Reducing the character's stress. Unfortunately, the whole topic of adding a stress/tension factor to the players hasn't been discussed yet and I'm sure that it won't either.

On a side note, I roll my own cigarettes. Yes, it looks like a joint, but it's not. Trust me! Anybody else out there who rolls their own? Now where did I put that spliff...

that to. but i think you also can use it to make the sniper skope shake les when you dont have any more pentzmint (ore whatever its named). i am not shure if they work that way in mgs1 but i think they do in mgs2.

It's called Diazepam.

In any case, smoke would seriously distract me, but not everyone is me.

And yes, adding stress factor and so on... It's borderlining on:

Fallout: The Simulation

Dan, if you think that is bad, check this out.

WoW i really liked that part this is a line you don't hear very often.

I get more happy by getting layd. hehehe lol.

I just figured i had an idear of my own i play renegade alot and it get into it sometimes but by using a chopper in the game and one guy is pielot <--- here comes the spelling thing but anyways you get my meaning if fallout 3 had choppers and we could load up the troops then make landings on bases hot zones and plant lots of explosives around and get out quick type missions.

But here's the catch falout is like a 1 person game you are the chosen 1 so tactics took it to another level should fallout 3 take it a step further :?:

This could also give demolition experts more abailitys then just demo a door or force field and even in tactics there where spots to use d-mits on mutants and robots but the abaility to drop ship in and out again to place your d-mits around and then watch from high above.

Also the choppers are great for sniping you can goto the roof tops land the chopper and get out goto the ledge then use your scope mod and other need to climb the stairs by the time they get next to the top you flone away. maybe ive done too much base attack stuff but you would seriously need bigger maps to get the full affect, the maps are way too small for flying.

Oh d-mits and mighty mits are not the same thing and if you read that your too close to the monitor and you should sit back and relax. 8)

I believe what you are referring to would be called FOT:2, not FO3. Obviously you've played Tactics, but do you have any experience with the first two games? We're not looking for combat simulations or anything else, we're talking about classic-style Fallout RPGs here. Yes, I know its hard to accept, but we've told you this a few times now.

If you must, just ask the moderators to make a separate forum where we can post ideas for games other than Fallout 3. I think that would be more your style.

This is not bashing, just some constructive criticism... Let's hope the other's don't see this now...

Yea, that idea came off way too Fallout: Tactics for my taste.

One idea I had the other day...the Vault Dweller was kicked out of Vault 13 and ended up founding Arroyo...there's got to be some story inbetween there. Since there is an 80 year gap (correct me if 80 was wrong) inbetween the Vault Dweller's quest and the Chosen One's quest, I think a story of the Vault Dweller's travel up north could be interesting. (Yea, I realize there are some problems with this idea, but its just something I thought up)

Well, there's not a whole lot we can do with that storyline because there's no gap between the maps from FO1 and FO2. Perhaps the Vault Dweller went further north at first into Canada? Or maybe to Jellystone Park? This would be, of course, before he moves back to the neighboorhood and starts copulating with the natives like mad to make Arroyo.

Who knows, maybe he/she has an illegitimate child somewhere else?

Puts a butt out on Odrats noise. 8)

About smoke i no about and this doesn't even need a game to link it too.

Here goes another sugestion i also thought that smoking is a good topic if Odrat wasn't so narrow minded and actually owned other games he may also no this. In commandos they used the Butt as a destraction a comando named Lipps who is very hot by the way whould hang out on the streets and toss the smoke down on the ground to simply get the germans distracted and by doing so allowed tiny the dude with the knife time enough to sneak up and shank him.

And i no we are going to be best of friends Odrat just wish you wouldn't bump my every post with stupidity.

And i decided i wasn't in a good modd so no color on this post all B/W i wouldn't want too hurt your sencitive eyes.
