Something I haven't noticed before - getting ammo from dropped weapons

I've started another playthrough of FNV with the J.E Sawyer mod, but this time I've noticed something odd - whenever I loot a weapon from a dead enemy, I get some ammo for it.
Now, I like this feature, but I have no idea where it came from - I haven't noticed it in the vanilla game, nor in the mod, and I don't have any other mods.

So tell me, is this another feature of the J.E Sawyer mod that I missed, or is it a feature of the vanilla game that I missed? I'm a bit perplexed :confused:
