Stand up comedy

I love comedians. The kind that just stand there, on stage, with a microphone and a bottle of water or beer.
I have a number of Dutch stand up comedians that I adore, but lately, with all them stand up shows and YouTube, I've gotten really interested in Anglo-Saxon comedians.
I discovered a couple of them that really rock, like Mitch Hedberg, who is already dead, and the young but very talented Demetri Martin, who also uses short but very witty jokes (and who also has an awesome site. Check out the first of the "episodes", A Rare Condition, 'cause it's really good.)
I was impressed by Louis CK, who reminds me of Hans Teeuwen, and I was amused by some of Jeremy Hotz' stuff, but somehow I think those are only the tip of the iceberg (so to speak).

What Anglo-Saxon comedians are really teh best of teh best? Can someone tell me?

George Carlin, Sam Peneldon (sp?) he's dead but he rocked, Bobcat Goldwait, Rodney Dangerfield.... Richard Pryor (black but he's still funny)

Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphey, George Carlin, and Robin Williams are pretty old school but they are amazingly hilarious. Personally, i think Denis Leary's "No cure for cancer" is one of the best. Also Chris Rock's First to comedy specials ("Bring the pain" and "Bigger and Blacker") are damn good.

I remember Dave Attell being hilarious. I first saw him on his show "The Insomniac", which was pretty good. Later I heard his stand up stuff and was impressed.

Not much on YouTube on him.... link1 link2

Bill Hicks was a great comedian, Jerry Seinfeld is pretty good too, prolly because I like that type of humor. Saw Ray Romano on TV once - it was teh suk.

Dave Attell is great both in stand up form and on Insomniac. I also like Greg Giraldo and Jim Norton.

Try to get your hands on robin williams, live from broadway. Old but you will be laughing for 1,5 hours. Really fun and a little perverted.

Also I recomend some shows from Stephen lynch. Btw: this is my favourite lynch song.

Billy Connolly - Great scot, well, that's a fun pun.

Eddie Izzard - Rather weird, historylesson typish comedy.

Classics like Eddie Murphy ofcourse. RAW and delirious might be youtube.

Carlos Mencia ahs some good stuff too, straightshooting, can get a bit boring.

If you like Mitch Hedberg or Demetri Martin, you should listen to Stephen Wright. He's the first really popular one-liner comedian.

Another of my favorites is Zach Galifinakis. He's really hit or miss, though. And, of course, who could forget Steven Lynch, the best musical comedian today.

Thanks for that name. Totally my style.

Heh, I thought so. I'm glad the two clips I posted had child molestation and bukkake themes.

If you find more clips of him, post 'em here (or just pm me).

Lately been listening to Christopher Titus in my car on my travels.
Makes me laugh quite a bit, though he is a story tell comedian. Personal tragity is funny kind of thing.
