Starting New

Yeah, they're okay as far as quality goes.

Aesthetically, NZXT usually equals LED holocaust, but that's just my opinion. :P

Operating system pretty good?

I know alot of people don't like Vista and the such but I've had no real problems with it in the past.

Alright, with all I have now along with a 3 year warranty parts and labor, it's gonna end up about $1,082.82, sound about right for all that or am I getting messed over?

Also, thanks for all the assistance with this, I probly would've ended up with something not as good but around this same price if I hadn't have gotten some help, thank you very much. ^^

Seems good. The only things I would suggest now is dropping the sound card, since the onboard on that motherboard is actually very nice (nice enough that that sound card doesn't offer any real benefit), and using the extra cash to get DDR2-1066 instead of 800.

Oh, mind adding the prices per part to that list? There may be better deals on certain components.

No problem. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure that you can get a 1tb drive for $10-$20 less than that, and that sound card seems rather expensive for what is essentially a renamed SB Live! 24-bit, but other than that everything seems in line.

Alright, I think I'm gonna take off that sound card and use the money to make the GeForce 9800GT vid card the GeForce GTX 260 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI one, think that'd be good?

Like how much more can the GTX260 do?

Alright cool, one other thing I was thinking of also, would my processor cooler be a good choice since the processor's a pretty powerful one or would I need something a big stronger?

Ah alright, as for the site Pc-Infinity, think they're good, that is where I'm getting this from so I needed to also make sure they're a good group.

Really sorry to bump this thread after it being gone for a while, but I finally got some money, and this was the final thought I came to.

monitors: X2Gen MW19R 19" Wide LCD w/ Speakers
operating system: Vista Home Basic 64 bit

Before I actually go through and get it, does everything look about right?

Three things:

Graphic cards are fine, both ways. Remember that you need a very good monitor as well.

Another thing, if you're planning to use it as a gaming rig, heavily, consider purchasing a gaming mobo from Nvidia or Asus. The current Gigabyte mobo is, well, crap.

Bling cases that are shiny and have shiny shiny shines and all other purty lights with fairy dust might be cute, but you want to know what Power Supply Unit they come packin' with. PSU failures are the #1 reason computers fuck up, occasionally burning and/or shocking your HDD, sending your vomitous gay furry porn into oblivion. Don't hesitate to spend extra bucks into a very good PSU that will provide your power-hungry graphics card, soundcard and USB pendrives/furry dolls with the appropriate supply of electricity.

An extra would be a powerful PSU that additionally has a silent ventilation system, unless you want your PC to sound like a WW1-era airplane. If it's good enough, and your processor+GFX card fans are good as well, you won't even need a case fan.

On the mobo, would something like this be more suited for a gaming rig?

Asus P5Q3 Core 2 Quad/ Intel P45/ DDR3-1800/ CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ ATX

Then on the power supply, what would you think of this?

Antec TruePower Quattro 1000 1000W

Or this?

Thermaltake Toughpower W0117 750W w/14cm Fan

The P45 sounds like an awesome 'performance' mobo. Especially if you're using an Intel processor as well. Asus' P5Q3 is also decent.

As for the PSU, I don't know if you really need 1KW. Thermaltake is a very good and reliable brand, I'd choose their product.

One last thing, with this processor would this fan be adequate?

Processor: intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6700 2.66GHz 1066MHz 8MB

Processor Fan: Thermaltake CL-P0391 Intel LGA775 & AMD K8/AM2 CPU Fan

Or would this fan be better: Zalman CNPS9500A LED Copper CPU Fan

That isn't very important, unless you plan to do some serious overclocking. Dual/Quad cores don't overheat that much, just be sure to choose a fan that will fit the CPU socket nicely and won't make as much noise as a starting airliner.

Thermaltake's 'ruby orb' fan reminds me of Goatse.

Since I really haven't heard anything for Zalman brand, and Thermaltake at least has a good reputation, I'll go with the Thermaltake one, regardless of its red goatse look. X3

Thanks quite a bit for the help Wooz.
