Strike!!

I got word from a source that IPLY still haven't paid the employees for the last two weeks and also that the insurance has been cut off but that they are still taking money out of people's checks for the insurance.

According to my source there is also alot of deals on the table, but Herve Caen doesn't seem to be doing anything about it.

He also explains what Herve is saying to the employees, which is basicly "if you don't like the situation, get out"...

So ours and this source's solution to the employees left:
If this forum can rally people - it would be my suggestion that the people that are left GO ON STRIKE - in front of building, get some publicity in the press and media on the company and force him to do right by the people who are there.
Get off that desk, get out of the door and show Herve what you mean about his money draining scheme!!

I dunno. Strike seems kinda... non-violent.

I suggest bludgeoning the French capitalist pig.

Ain't that shit illegal?

Our unions would quite literally kill anyone who pulls a stunt like that

Exactly my point. Why protest when you can carve the bastards up with a knife?

Even better, the blade would be a F:POS CD. Not sharpened, of course.

It could take a few tries, but it would work out in the end. :D

Playing on his employees' fears is a desperate gamble by Herve.

He knows that if the employees quit, they'll not be able to file for unemployment. Which would hurt them in the long run if they cannot quickly find a job.

Of course, they can still file with EDD for the back pay that they are owed by Interplay, which would in turn hurt Herve.

A strike by the employees at this point won't be very effective because it can't stop the game development process at Interplay.

And why is this? Because there hasn't been any serious game development at Interplay for the past month.

The next pay date is at the end of this month. It should be interesting to see if Herve can come up with more cash to make payroll. He'll probably have to funnel back some of the money from his European accounts that he's been skimming from Interplay's accounts.

quite outrageous that, id rather walk out than hopelessly wait to be paid..the workers all have experience from their jobs wouldnt they be snapped up once they leave? or im just being naive?

Who would hire people who stuck by a now third-rate company without any managerial direction worth time to mention?

Unfortunately, there are only so many game companies in the area that have positions open. The bigger companies, like Sammy Studios, EA, and Sony are a bit of commute from Orange County.

Then there's Silver Style. :)

The sad truth in any software industry is that you may have to move across the country or world to find a job unless you own the studios or could just about name your salary.

That sucks. And yes, the company can't do that. Employees are entitled to their compensation for work tendered. If it were me, I'd want the bosses fed to wild weasels.

But there is problem if the workers don't act. The normal recourse is to sue for lost wages and compensation. Before that, wait to see if the company makes good but this is IPLY, the employees might be better off asking Santa.

If the company goes belly up and declares bankruptcy than the company could be sheltered from past creditors. Honestly, not sure if employees are exempted from that.

One thing for sure, employees should compare notes and organize. This is bullshit.

I agree with Comrade Ratty, the greedy capitalist pigs should either be skinned alive or sent on a little holiday to Kamchatka in one of the Party's luxury resort facilities.

All too true. A lot of the people are settled (house/condo, kids, etc.) which cuts down on a lot of options unless they're willing to uproot themselves and make things even more complicated. Tough times. :(

Are you still working with SilverStyle, huggies? The new dev diaries for the game make it look pretty interesting.

And I'm still confused what happens to licesnse such as Fallout. Before interplay dies don't they have to sell off all their stuff to see if they can stay alive? I'm sure the FO license is worth something, especially with companies like Troika being very public with their desire to work on it.

Fallout in Half Life 2 engine? Sounds good to me! :D

But in truth, Troika will never get the Fallout license. Why? Because I will! I will purchase the license, hold on to it and prevent a new Fallout sequel from getting developed out of pure evil spite, muahahaha!!!

You're obsessed with giving people reasons to kill you, aren't ya?
