Stun and assasinate.

Shadow Phoenix

First time out of the vault
I think there should be a possibility to stun other people.
For example in Fallout 1 I really would like it if I could stun some of the guaRds in the Heights of Hub. When trying to steal the necklace or attempting to kill the merchant, it would be nice not to have to kill all people. I know, I can sneak in, take the necklace and sneak out.

I've played Hitman 2, and this thought came up, when I was slaying the merchant.

Also someway to kill silently would be handy.

And how about perk Backstab. Just sneak behind them and cut the throat.

It's always the same. You kill him. He screams. The guards come. A huge pile bodies. Are the game makers trying to turn us some kind of massmurderers?

There was something like the backstab perk in Fo2 (and 1 I think) that if you hit them from behind with a meele aimed hit it would always be critical, kinda like the sniper perk, but not the slayer perk.

You're referring to the "Silent Death" perk, right? Hm. It doesn't turn your successful hits into criticals, though, it only causes double damage. Me thinks it has way too much requirements: 10 Agility, 80% Sneak, Level 18 + you have to be sneaking whilst you attack + you have to attack your opponent from behind. Not worth the perk, imo. The damage delivered should be much more (it should indeed be a critical hit) to make this an interesting perk.

With ill the requirements it takes to pull this off, you'ld think it'd do more then double damage.

You are right of course. The silent kill aspect of Fallout does need some work.

There is a news thread about this; I know it's around here somewhere...

Actually I'd like to see that you're able to knock out an enemy, ie while in the fight you smack him with a fist and he gets knocked out for a certain time period or he gets so injured that he gets knocked out, ie critically injured with few hit points left would make you drop out for two turns or something similar.

Actually, what I meant was that you sneak to your enemy from the behind, and WHAM!!!, hit him(or if you prefer, her) with somekind of a club, wrench or something and he/she goes to meet the sandman. You can do it barehanded, just hit the right spot and it's goodnight to the moron.

Anything that could balance out the bladed weapons is welcome by me. Knives just ended up being something I carried around to barter with, when they could easily be used to slit people's throats.

And if you really want to stun people, just punch 'em in the head until they go unconcious. =P

If you dont have the fast shot trait, you can allready do this
2 probs

1-the guards would come running

2-you dont always knock them out, and even then, not for long.

I've wanted this for a while
It would be cool to have a slaver race in fallout 3 that could knock people out and (if they have rope in their inventory) tie the person up. There was this 1 game I played that was sorta like FOtactics it was some startrek game were when you ran you could see (by some graphics on the screen) a set of waves that moved out when you walked/ran/crawled running made it real big walking smaller crawling makes it real small.

amke it were if you fight some1 people only come if they hear gunfire or the fight is in their line of sight

EX: you sneak in the bar, go behind salvatore and shoot him with a silenced gun or with a knife. He dies you sneak out and turn off sneak in the bar. Next time you visit that map, the NPC's random speech mentions it, but noone atacks you.

How does that matter, Oden ?
the game takes place in the future.
So did the war.
The tech would have simply improved.
And stunguns are in prototype stage allready now.
I saw some article about on this very site.

Strictly adhering to a 50's mentality restricts the fun factor a bit.

You cut off a lot of possibilities by making the thing "strictly retro."

Besides, its not as if people weren't thinking about something along the lines of tasers or stun guns in the 50's.

Yeah, you could do the 50's view of the future twist of course. The weapon would have to be "clunky" of course, retro..

Well, it doesn't HAVE to be retro. But it would be cool. =P

It could look like some crude Phaser Rifle from Star Trek, and have a range of 2 hexes.

Plasma and Laser weapons aint retro.

Only the 'look' is kinds retro.

The tech could be VERY good, but it would simply LOOK 50's retro.

Use a Laser pistol from Star Trek's Pilot.

I say, yes, Laser

In the pilot episode, there was a laser pistol.

remember, retro affects look, not tech.

... Yeah they are. Energy weapons (particularly lasers) have been staples of science fiction sine The War of the Worlds.

The concept of condensed energy weapons has been toyed with all throughout the 20th Century. And during the booming tv age of the 50's and early 60's, they were shown all the time in cheesy Sci Fi movies.

Its not "ruining" per se. A few bits of modern stuff isn't going to hurt anything, so long as the overall atmosphere is significantly retro and post-apocalytpic.
