Stupid blasted NCR guards...

Nighthawk

First time out of the vault
Hello to you all!

All right, I'm having a small problem in NCR. Here's a small description of what I've done so far (In that area at least) :

1. Convinced Tandi I can help with the Squatters. :D

2. Killed the 2 Khans holding the girl prisonner 8)

3. Talked to the Squatter leader, and convinced him to accept NCR's deal

And now here's the rub : When I go back to the Council area in NCR to talk to Tandi again, guards start attacking me for absoltely no reason. I'm not wielding any weapons, I don't even have any NPCs with me, and I do absolutely nothing threatening.

I even tried it without any armor... And well, the guards in the lower left corner (The Something Gate guards) just start shooting for absolutely no reason... Can anyone help me with this little problem? IS it a bug, or is there something else I need to do, or what?...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, maybe they just don't like you, dude.
No, seriously: do you unequip your guns before entering NCR or do you go directly to the Council map and unequip them over there?

You mean the guards in front of the forcefield to Carlson's estate, right? Well, this never happened to me. Do you have the patch?

I suggest you shoot back. Show them what you're made of, kid.

hehe

*Laughs* Good one. :)

I unequip them before I even start to travel from the previous location (Vault 15), so no, don't have any guns equipped...

Yup, downloaded/Installed it right afte I read your answer... Same result... And yeah, they'Re Carlson's guards, I checked. :)

Well, aside from the fact that they literally whup my butt, I tried it after installing the patch... And got some weird results,... :

I didn't need to shoot back at them because the first shot they sent hit a standard policeman... So the policemen started replying in kind... Went so far as to kill Carlson and his kid

Problem solved? Not really, because then, if I so much as changed area in the city, the standard policemen started shooting!!! Ack! ;)

SO, long story short, the same thing happens... But hey, I have to say, it was really cool reading your post. It's not often I laugh out loud trying to solve a computer game bug. ;) So keep up the humor, oh Great Blade Runner, direct ancestor of the Vault Dweller, and holder of all divine knowledge? ;) Just kidding, don't let it get to your head...

Seriously, does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

Few things:

1. You are not done in V15. Remember Tandi asked for some computer parts and access to the vault. If you don't do this, the quest isn't finished. And when you do this, you get more info on V13. side note: NCR is the place where you get your info on the whereabouts of V13, there are 3 ways to get it.

2. Have you done anything to piss Carlson off? Did you take the job of killing him from Bishop? Did you mess with the rancher senator(forgot the name)? Remember most things you do in this game have a price tag attached, meaning it will affect something else you weren't paying attention to.

3. Bug. Per has reported the bug where the NCR guards attacks you for no reason. Unless you've done something to provoke them, like stealing. There is a delayed reaction flaw in the game where when you do something stupid like getting caught stealing, the character doesn't react in time. So the next time you come back, you will be attacked on sight.

The only way I know of(there maybe a more technical way) on how to fix this is to get yourself a new NCR map from a earlier save.

Need more info? Read up Per's walkthrough.

hello there ;)
i was wondering if there is any way to enter those forcefield guarded areas in ncr

Yes, there is. I assume you mean the force-fielded area near the Governor's (Tandi's) Hall.

There's a mission from (I think it was Tandi's secretary), well, someone, and you'll have to deliver a package to the old guy that lives there.
But there's absolutely nothing of value in there, soo.... I wouldn't bother ^^

All right, thanks, StarSeeker. The 'delayed reaction time' just might be it. I did take the mission from Bishop, but haven't acted on it yet, and I've already been through the area once (To talk to Tandi), and they didn't shoot then. But like you say, it might have taken the game a few trips to figure out what happened (So to speak).

I'll try with another map of NCR (Wanted to start the game over anyway; getting tired of the Bloody Mess Trait   )

Hope that makes at least half as much sense to you as it does to me.

And thanks again, and have a real, real, nice day, with a cherry on top. :)[/list]

ohh i see ;)
dreamed about some pain dealing stuff with just a force field between it and mee :)
anyway does anyone else play the game without any party members ?

Hi Nighthawk, the patch didn't fix the existing game, just new one. That's what i have read when I install the patch.

Oh, amd I forgot to say that the guards equipt with bozars have no sensibility. I stole all 4 of bozars.

The "Westin" forcefields:
Talk to the policeman at the shop ( don't remember his name) and tell him you're looking for some honest work, he'll tell you to go see Westin.

Carlson forcefields:
Just steal the presidential pass from Tandi's secretary ( The guy in the black suite)
