The beloved Masamune... It's been in numerous RPGs, Almost all the Final Fantasy's I think, And Chrono Trigger, etc.
Anyways..how the hell do you say "Masamune"? Me and a couple of friends can't decide.

I say "May" (As in the month) "Sah" "Mune" (Mune sounding like Moon)
May-Sah-Moon..

My friend says "May-Sah-Mune-Ay" (mune rhyming with tune)

And my future wife says... "Mass-Ah-Mewn-Ay"

If I'm wrong I'd like to know. :)

You pronounce it exactly how it is phonetically written in Japanese. Words are pronounced exactly how they are in english, only they do not add extra letters to change the sound of letters (like "hate"). "E" always makes an "ey" sound like "hey", "I" makes an "ee" sound, "O" is usually always "oh," but sometimes depends on where you put it, "U" makes an "oo" sounds, and "A" makes an "ah" sound. So "Masamune" would be pronounced:

MAH-Sah-MOO-Ney

That's why "Pokémon" has a slash above the "e." The slash makes it sound like "ee" instead of "ey," another example is "saké" (popular Japanese liquor), which is pronounced, SAH-KEE.

Heh, I just downloaded a DVD -> DivX ;-) copy of Princess Mononoke, almost a gigabyte in two files, off of IRC. Boy it took forever.

Freaks? Right up my alley!

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Jan-02-01 AT 06:55PM (GMT)[p]He's got it. I've recently taken up Japanese, and the following is probably the most complicated thing I've ever written.

Ohayoo! Watashi wa Nihongo o benykoshimas, demo korega wakarimasen. Sefirotsu no Masamune wa OOKII des!

And now for Japanese songs. Why? Why not?

1. A i u e o hoshisama,
Ka ki ku ke ko nya,
Sa shi su se so ra o, etc.

2. Kaeru no utaga
Kikoe te kuu nu yo
Guwa, guwa, guwa, guwa
Ke-ke-ke-ke-ke-ke-ke-ke guwa guwa guwa.

3. Atama gata, hiiza ashi
Hiiza ashi, hiiza ashi
Atama gata, hiiza ashi
Me, mimi, hana kuchi

No. 1 was a song made up to teach kids the Japanese alphabet, No. 2 is a song about a frog going 'guwa' and 3 is heads and shoulders knees and toes.

Aah, I love showing off. :)

What's a good channel for getting movies? I know a couple, sich as #fastdivx on EFnet, but there you have to queue for like a day until you get to download.

I know it's not allowed to post warez stuff here, but Xotor started it :-)

A little bird told me that you can find some at #animemovies on DALnet. There are still queues that last for a long time, but there are some servers that have very few people on there (because they don't advertise a whole lot), and most are pretty fast (26kBytes/s). The most laxxed time is around 4:00 to 5:00AM my time (Mountain Standard Time). I was lucky to arrive after a server split which axed some of the people who were before me.

The channel has a dedicated website at www.animemovies.net/

Tell me if you find any other good channels. #Animemovies has a policy of no ratios, so that's pretty nice.
