Supermutants for Sale

Yeah I just did. They can't do anything, or at least nothing that's legal.

I mean, they're just hosting the files.

I hope that doesn't become a job for a lawyer.

Doesn't need one unless you need to take him to court to sue for either compensation or for your content and coding work. Look in the TOS of the hosting for anything covering stolen material and copyrighted material. As you folks are the authors of material there, you retain the copyright to that material, and you can effectively give them a "pirating" claim about it, since that is what Glowbewohner is effectively doing. If he's going to try and make a profit from the domain, on your work, you are now owed compensation for it because he is trying to profit from your work.

Thanks for your activity according to this mess - so much about "the death community" ;-)

Chewie, as long as I have been on this site I have known it to be populated by many very mature and astute members of the Fallout community. It's no surprise. I do believe that Fallout (the game) has the most dedicated fan base, if not oldest and most intelligent, out of any "computer game" in history, bar none (I don't know if that is saying much though). So if you were to take the best of the best and shove them into a forum you'd be left with what we have right here.

... if you're interested in switching to nma-fallout, Google always has the translation toolkit if you ever find something here you can't understand.

And even better: http://dict.leo.org

EN <=> DE <=> FR

Just a dictionary, but can come in handy when you bump into a word you can't think of a proper translation for.

And if you prefer an EN <=> EN dictionary, try: http://www.dict.org

Or dictionary.com, if you want to sell your soul.

The following [here translated] dialogue can found at the bottom of the the german auction for supermutants.de at ebay, since yesterday:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8733357879

Hi, read about your auction and/or the closing of the site, at NMA,
I would have a few questions about this, why is the site going to
be closed? You write, the webspace will be deleted and the content
would have to be transferred, does the possibility of an extension
with 1&1 exist? What about the registered domain, will it be
deleted too? If no extension is possible with 1&1, would assistance
be possible with the transfer to another Web space?
Thanks Oliver Borchard

Hello. The main reason Supermutants was closed, is that there was
controversy with my team. Merely the Domains are located at 1&1,
the Web space is on a Freehost at t-n-media.de . People there are
super kindly. I think you could count on them in terms of
along-term Hosting. I will release the Domains at 1&1 only if they
are sold here. Otherwise I keep it. I would help, while selling, with
the transfer to a new server. But as said. Here you are bidding on
the DOMAINS, not on the content. The content CAN be added

FREE. MFG GLOWBEWOHNER

yeah, read it... i'd like to know who this oliver borchard-guy is and if he was serious.

unfortunately there have been no answers by ebay, t-n-media or anyone else yet regarding the whole "i can give it away for free"-action.

His current explanation is no less bullshit than before. Supermutants.de was built upon with the content, content that is will now just "give away", which he still has no legal right to do.

So he is, in essence, still auctioning the site itself in whole as the content built the domain and is being offered for "free" - not just the domain itself.

As it looks like anyone who would be interested in said domain reads the NMA news to see what is going on, no bids have been made on this rather dubious auction.

We have about three days left. I doubt it will sell even then. And frankly, this looks to be one of the times where eBay might passively watch to see what happens, and who makes a bid (for background purposes) and see what the seller is intending. They aren't that new to tearful webmasters going to sell the work others did for them, webmasters upset that their ego isn't being polished anymore.

I was just wandering around, without expecting anything,
and stumbled upon this:

SUPERMUTANTS.DE - Fallout und The Fall Community
Buy-It-Now Price: EUR 111,11
Ends: 09.12.05 20:21:45 MEZ
Start Time: 04.12.05 21:42:14 MEZ
Buyer: straymerchant_westphalia ( 3 )

So, is there any news from members of the old community?

Is it known how this guy could be?

I'm wondering what will happen next, or further.

edit: ok, chewie was faster then me, but the questions remain.

situation is clear. we'll launch the new site during next days. we don't know who this guy is, maybe another "domain collector" or what to call it. i hope this poor guy asked again for the correct domains that were sold by glowbewohner, because he did something wrong in the article description (domain fallout3.de instead of fallout-3.de). but who wonders about this anymore...
let's see how this guy get things started or what he will make out of these domains.
if there will be any conclusions about this matter in the next few days or something, we'll post them here.

I just hope that this guy will handle it well.
There was pretty much work on this side from many people around there.

I just don´t hope that he will punch the work of these men.
