System Shock 1 Remastered Pre-Alpha Gameplay Footage

It's a nice looking game, kind of reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It's a shame they're not giving the same treatment to SS2, I guess that'll probably happen soon enough.

I saw an article about this once. Looks good. I enjoyed system shock 2 so, I might but this one when it comes out. Depending of the price that is.

Well, I'm pumped. Looks fantastic. SS2 is one of my all-time favs, but I never got around to playing the first one even though I've considered it several times. It just seemed to dated.

I always felt SS1 was just too dated to hold up under modern scrutiny. Well, now that's no longer an issue.

Man, this looks brilliant. SS1 was a bit before my time, and I could never really enjoy it later, because let's face it, it aged terribly. Controls suck big time.
But this, this looks awesome. I'll definitely keep an eye on it, and I sure hope they'll tackle SS2 next.
/edit: I can hardly believe that it's on Unity engine. Very nicely done.

For some reason when I first started watching the video I thought this was pre-alpha of System Shock 3 or whatever they're kickstarting or whatever. And then I'm all like "wait this looks exactly like System Shock 1". So yeah, it looks just like System Shock 1 except a lot prettier. Which is what they're going for I guess. The buttons on the terminals shouldn't look so blocky. They looked like blocky messes back then cuz primitive graphics, but they should make them look better now. Otherwise, looks great. :p

It's probably consolized and has a redone control scheme with a gamepad in mind.

It's being released on Xbox One, so a redone control scheme is likely, but it's not like they couldn't have different control schemes for the PC version. Besides, it looks more likely that it will be a PC port than a console port.

Oh man, really? I loved System Shock, but I haven't been able to play it in ages because I find it so difficult to get past the clunky-ass Ultima Underworld style controls. I'm looking forward to this.

At least SS2 was made with the Thief engine and is still quite playable by modern standards. Have you tried playing the original? God, that fucking UI.

If I remember correctly, most people remember System Shock 2 for being good, not the first one. I'm sure it had its merits too, but most who have played it tell me-

Have you tried playing the original? God, that fucking UI.

-that.

The original was excellent too. It's a shame it has such an impenetrable UI, because it was a genre-defining game and more people should play it. You'd be surprised how many things SS2 took from SS which later went on to become staples of survival horror.

I think System Shock 1 is pretty much my limit for how inaccessible/"old" a game has to be for me not to play it. Played System Shock 2 though.

Apparently they are going ahead with System Shock 3 which is great.

The demo is out now. It's free (I've picked it up on GOG) and so far, it looks promising (there are some issues like hit collision but it is pre-alpha). They've started a Kickstarter too and they enlisted Chris Avellone to work on the game as well.

Never managed to get into System Shock 1 due to how much it has aged. Played System Shock 2 though and loved it. Hopefully, this remaster plays and sells well.

Well it's nice to see they actually have SOMETHING to show for the game with this pre-alpha thing before doing Kickstarter. I hope it is successful.

Too many videogame kickstarters are made by people who post stupid concept art and then beg for money, get the money, and then 2 or 3 years later tell everyone "I can't manage money and it's all gone and the game is scrapped."
