Uninstall. Open a command window and navigate to the folder where you have the game. Type "setup.exe -lgntforce". For the regular patch or no-cd patch just search for them on google, plenty of sites still have them up.

Great game really (not as good as Deus EX, and not as scary as thief, but strikes a nice balance  )
Revival doesn't seem to do much for the game, i don't think the models are "ugly", but they're not much of an improvement either.
I tried playing the first one a little while ago, Yes, it's terribly outdated, but i managed to get a few hours into it, pretty great game seein as how old it is (what i just can't get myself to play is Wasteland, a pity, seein as i play even nethack)

Montez, this may sound dumb but how do i open a command window? I couldnt find any no cd patches online, there were some no cd cracks but it still gave me the message with them installed.

It should be in the accessories folder of your start menu, but I'll give you an easier way to do it instead: Write down the directory where you have the game. Go to the start menu, click the "run" icon, then type in the location of the game followed by the setup command, then hit the OK button. So it will look sort of like this:
"C:\sshock2\setup.exe -lgntforce"

Last, find the game directory, find a file called "SHOCK.CFG", open it, and add this line exactly as written then save:
safe_texture_manager

Here is the patch: http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/systemshock2/shkpatch.exe.html

As for a no-cd crack - can't help you with that one, I wouldn't know where to find it. You shouldn't need an XP specific patch if you set it up this way, so maybe you won't need a no-cd file.

Ok, I did it all, installed it with the -lgntforce and put safe_texture_manager at the end of shock.cfg document and the game runs great but still there is no sound. When I try to install the patch, it says Cannot Determine Installation Directory Ensure The Game Is Installed Properly And Try Again. I dont know what the hell is going on

For the sound thing, right click on shock2.exe and go to "Properties". Find the compatibility tab, check it and set it to windows 95. If that doesn't fix it, try setting it to windows 98. That should take care of it.

For the patch, it sounds like either the game wasn't installed to a defualt directory or the patch needs to be run in the directory. Copy the patch file to the game directory and run it, see if that works. If not, don't worry about it - the patch mainly added multiplayer features and fixed a few small bugs, you can play the game fine without it.

If you run into any other problems, I recommend going here: http://www.ttlg.com/forums/
They've got everything pretty much covered.

The sound doesnt work no matter what system i try in compatibility, everything else works fine. I'm thinking that the update is what I need. I think that the patch is supposed to go to a default game directory. Since I downloaded my game from the net maybe it does not automatically create such directory. Do you know what that directory is? Maybe I could extract the game there and try

The stuff I told you is all I know about getting the game to run. Go to the link I posted for further help, they have 4 forums for System Shock and are pretty much the official forums of the game.

Finally got it to work and the info was in ReadMe!! The game is pretty awesome, it doesnt look old either
