Tactical shooters

Been a while since I played a good tactical shooter. I tested the ARMA 2 demo awhile back, bit old game now I guess. Not sure about 3. DayZ has a lot of hype but don't know, not really in to the whole zombie thing. I like em realistic and gritty. Gun sounds are good to get right, and proper physics etc.

I wonder why it seems so difficult to do proper 'open world' or large battlefield tactical shooter games where there's a lot of work put into the environment, AI, etc. I'd imagine it's not that hard to do. What's the best forest/jungle/natural environment in a game right now?

Anyone got any recommendations?

Remeber back in the days when Operation Flashpoint now known as arma: cold war assault was the shit! Sadly i can't think of any new ones besides arma and i'm not really in the mood to even try those out.

Yes, Op Flashpoints were good but a little, well, 'heavy' to get into. I mean, I'd really put the time into a great, realistic tactical shooter/military strategy game - hybrid or something if it was great. Thing was, even with Flashpoint, at some point one goes "meh". The Czech guys who did ARMA etc. bunch of other good games have the right attitude. Well Battlefield's are from Sweden right? They have a single player and the multiplayer? I remember running over dudes with an APC in Battlefield one or two, can't remember which, hehe. Fun times. Very smooth game graphics wise back in the day.

Forgot to mention SWAT 4 as pretty good game. Realistic, tense, etc. The graphics of course aren't all that anymore, and weren't even when it was new. I'd like a new SWAT - game with good graphics etc. beefed up.

I miss Rainbow Six type of shooters. Siege looks promising but it's Ubisoft, they sure fucked some things up, it's inevitable.

For a cheap online one - Insurgency. Although it's more in a spot between arma on the one side and counter strike on the other.

Looks pretty good. Not sure if I have the patience to 'train' to be good in a multiplayer but might check it out.

Not bad but I wish they took the damage modeling a bit more realistically. You're not going to shake off hits from an assault rifle unless it hits your body armour or your on speed or something.

Ohh speaking of Rainbow Six. Me and a friend of my used to play CO-OP rainbow six vegas 1 and 2. They were quite fun at least a few years ago!
Also i've only played one swat game a long time ago but it was also good from what i remeber. Sadly i can't remeber wich one it was.

I got CS:GO. Total classic with the legendary levels such as Dust etc. Not sure I like all this "Unlock achievements" crap they seem to have in it now. It's a bit too fast paced and 'bunny-hoppy' for my liking. I'm still looking for a good one. Actually never played the Rainbow Six - games.

I dunno BF1 has lot of points your highlighting with enviroment damage and gun sounds being spot on. I guess it is kinda tatical but you always get noobs who do stupid things and that kinda pisses me off like when they won't revive you. But i know this isn't probably the game you looking for all though it might be.

For more tatical shoot i did quite like the division mechanics. I feel like a game in 3rd person is actually more tactical with a decent but not necessary all the time cover system. I dunno the division has it problem but it times can can be very tatical in a sence because you got wait for health cool downs and shit like that. Sobeing where you take cover and working with freinds can be good.

So yeah maybe try them too but I dunoo I feel what you really really want is something yet not made. There is defintly strong element in games but not the whloe package. Give BF1 a try though cuz its pretty good ;)
