Tactics online

Vullcan

First time out of the vault
I typed a huge post about tactics, fallout 1/2 and other things here but when i hit submit IE packed in and went on the couldnt load page so i lost it all.

In the end my question was; does anyone play tactics online? would anyone like to go on msn and organise a match either 1v1 or if possible more people?

Thanks

Yeah you can play it over gamespy arcade. Checked a few tiems every day but no one ever on it. Strange thing happens though, the lobby area dont load, so i cant create games or anything.

I really wanna play this online, looks so damn fun :D

well, if you posted it on the tactics dicusion forum....

(I have played it on LAN...its quite cool, but the premade maps are B.O.R.I.N.G.)

I'd proably try more with tactics, but the game itself is fucked up, and the mapper isnt easy enough to use for those that havent used such a thing before.

ah, okay...damn, and I was trying to be responsible...oh, well...

on topic though: I've used the mapper, I've even started a quite cool map...but it is not a very good mapper, it lags extremly(hmm, maybe thats my PC, though..err)

but if I had some cool maps for tactics, I would play it more on LAN...to bad I cant get in to DAC...

, that's why it's so bad.

You shouldnt need any experince with something else, a good mapper needs to be user freindly to the non programing inclined.

I could almost picture tatics being fun if there had been a co-op multiplayer option like commandos. A realtime RPG deathmatch is pretty stupid in my opinion.

RPG ?

Theres a RPG element to tactics ?

Huh, I thought it was just a clickfest.

I think you're thinking of POS.

FO:Tactics, while not a true Fallout, is in no way a clickfest and is in it's own way an enjoyable game.

It is to me.

No chance for true dialouge really, so a clickfest.

I gotta defend the designers here a bit.

That it isn't an RPG doesn't mean it's a clickfest. Some missions actually had a slight sense of tactics in them and running in guns blazing wasn't always the best idea.

It's still a level above Diablo (at least if you play it in turn-based mode), although it's still quite close.

That FOT was a weak attempt at using an existing franchise as excuse to make a new game doesn't mean the game totally sucked by its own.
I think the game would have been a lot better hadn't they been forced to stick to rough sketches meant to resemble the world of Fallout.

Oh, I agree it wasnt a compleatly horrible game, and it DID have some times when you could use tactics.

But not many. Usualy, it involved having a characther on overwatch behind a corner with a burst SMG or SG and your sniper drawing the enemy out.

Admitidly, some strategy, but it quickly got the momotny of a clickfest for me.
