Tech help: Display fails after 30 seconds

Okay, so my issue is this: everything boots up right, I can play around for 30 seconds, after which the display freezes on a frame, although I can still hear the gameplay and sounds.

Funnily enough, nothing like this happened while in Mitch's office, only as I stepped outside.

Any help?

PC of course. F3 never gave me any trouble.

Heh, new issue: works fine, I get to the sass shooting range with Sunny, then it suddenly starts failing, gives me one frame after a few seconds and then fails.

Doesn't want to start up again either - I have to restart the computer to run NV again.

EDIT: Wow... my drivers are outdated like hell... Your version: 152, new version: 260. Let's see how it works once I update.

EDIT2: Still nada. Validating STEAM and defragging drive.

Try to lower your audio hardware acceleration. It helped to exterminate all my crashs.

If it doesn't help, try updating your audio drivers. I've heard that the game is really picky about the drivers in general. So whatever it is, it should be up to date.

nVidia GeForce 7900 GS. I'll try Lexx's solution and see what comes up.

Don't use the 280 drivers, use the new 300 drivers. You'll see what I mean when I say they are magical, fixed everything for me. They were only relesaed a few days ago, the official ones.

I'm using 260.89 and the nVidia site indicates they're as good as they come. Can you give me a download link?

I'm out of ideas. Drive's okay, SBAudigy is out and no audio conflicts on that front (I'm using a built-in SoundMAX audio card, up-to-date GPU drivers.. everything should work fine.

And yet it does not. Fuck.

So, the way I see it, it's a driver issue, occuring mostly in outdoor areas.

Any ideas what to do to make the fucker work?

New and clean windows installation? New graphic card? :/

Named GeForce 260.99, the fresh driver is bundled with the PhysX 9.10.0514 software, has support for the GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300 and 400 series desktop cards and ION GPUs, and includes the following updates:

- Increases performance vs. v260.89 drivers in the following PC games: Civilization V (SLI), Fallout 3, Final Fantasy XIV and F1 2010 (DX11).

- Adds SLI profiles for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Fallout: New Vegas

- Improves compatibility for Fallout 3: New Vegas with antialiasing enabled.

Checked. Doesn't work. I've taken to playing it and alt-tabbing every time it starts getting all screwy to force it to reload the renderer. Ugly and cumbersome, but works.
