Television- What are you watching

welsh

Ok, is anyone watching these series-

Deadwood (on HBO)
Carnivale (on HBO)
The Shield (on Fx)
24 (on Fox)

The new Deadwood series is looking pretty good. Season finale for Carnivale is this Sunday- is this the end of the show? What do you think of Glenn Close on the Shield? Has 24 gone too far over the top, again?

The third season of 24 just ended here in Sweden. Like the two first ones it started out somewhat promising, took a dip, dragged on for too long, looked as it if might pick up towards the end, and finished on a note of disappointment. The only series I'm following at the moment is Lost (1st season), which has also been disappointing after the second episode (character building which tries hard to look deep but really isn't, plentiful plotholes and continuity goofs, it's obvious they'll drag out the central mystery forever).

Just so no one thinks I hate everything on TV, the fifth season of The West Wing was better than I expected, although not quite on the level of the previous seasons avec Sorkin.

The only tv shows I watch are Curb Your Enthusiasm and Lost (when I can remember to, that is). I'll check out The Office remake that's starting tonight, but even though it's got the guy from the Daily Show in it I'm not expecting too much.

I'm not watching TV that much, compared to other people I know.

CSI (the Las Vegas series, Miami sucks); sometimes
Stargate (Atlantis, not SG1); rarely
South Park; regularly
Galileo (kinda popular-science-docu-whatever, interesting); regularly
News; at least 2 times a day

To be honest: I prefer music, books and internet for entertainment.

Oh don't get me started on which series I follow, too many!! Here are some:

24
Enterprise (not anymore :( )
Stargate SG1
Stargate Atlantis
Lost
Battlestar Galactica
Scrubs
CSI (no not Miami, hate that one)

And there's more where that came from, some of which I'm to embaressed to mention.

I watch The Contender, Sundays on NBC. Reality boxing show, where you have to win boxing matches to stay on. Hosted by Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard.

I also watch Ultimate Fighter, Mondays on Spike. Reality UFC show, where you have to cage fight and win, to stay on. Hosted by Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell.

I hit up Family Guy, Futurama and Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Cartoon Network, on occasion

Reno 911
South Park
Simpsons
American Chopper (Paul Teutal Sr. is the most hilarious guy on the planet)

I watch CONAN O BRIEN constantly!!!

Also AMC is one of my favorite channels. They play movies like Death Race 2000, Death Wish 1,2&3, Rocky 1-5, Escape From Alcatrazz, Joe The Kidd, and all the other great American classics.

I usually just leave the TV on a lot, so I'll watch whatever's on Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, History Channel, or Sci-Fi.

I don't watch anything with regularity save when I was watching Upright Citizens Brigade. Now I just make it a point to watch the Sunday Adult Swim lineup and Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex.

The only TV I watch is the Simpsons, Seinfield, Family Guy, and the Three Stooges.

New TV shows are horrible.

edit- oh yeah, Conan O'Brien's great when I'm up at that time. I've seen two tapings of his show. Really funny.

I don't get any of your fancy HBO channels.

In my day, we only had 60 channels, and the remote wasn't even universa!

As for shows that I'm currently watching? The only new show is 24. SG-1 and Atlantis are done for the season, Smallville is on a break, so I'm pretty much just stuck with 24.

I've been rewatching all of Star Trek Voyager, though.

There's still one more episode of both for the season, airing Friday night.

My Tivo records:
Nip/Tuck
Both Stargates
All three CSI's
Battlestar Galactica (Boomer is teh Hot!)
The West Wing (vote Bartlett for President)
Cowboy Bebop
Family Guy
Futurama
Nature
Scientific American
Nova
Frontline
The Old House
New Yankee Workshop
Ghost in the Shell Standalone series
House (female doc is teh Hot!)
recording tonight's Office (while getting my groove on with a German chick downtown for nickel night, pics to follow perhaps)
Daily Show
Aqua Teen Hunger Force

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Arrested Development. It's the best show on TV, hands down. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.

The only other show I'm really following right now is The Shield.

Welsh - Glenn Close rules pretty hard. She's a good foil to Mackey, because she's just as tough and street-hardened as he is, but she's a straight shooter. Part of me thinks she has a few demons in her closet, though. It'll be interesting where they take the characters this season. I'm also wondering what's going on between Vic and one of the ex-strike team members (the blonde one, not his close friend). He showed up looking for Mackey in the first episode, looked kind of shady, then disappeared.

I'm also getting into Deadwood, now that the DVDs are out. Only on the fourth episode, though. Good show.

As far as other random shows I'm watching:

Conan O'Brian
The Adult Swim lineup (Family Guy, Futurama, Aqua Teen, Sealab, Robot Chicken, Cowboy Bebop)
The Ultimate Fighter
The OC (shut up)

Haven't seen The Contender. I keep missing it.

I'm also checking out the American version of The Office tonight. I saw a bit of the premiere on an internet site and I was pleasently surprised. It's much different from the original, but still pretty hilarious. Steve Carrell rules.

I believe the best episode is the very early one with the crack in the event horizon. I don't think I've laughed that well half a dozen times in my entire life. The only reason I ever watched the show was the doctor.

I actually started watching MacGyver recently, other than that, only the original CSI.

Oh...well, I'm a fairly impatient person. When the newer episodes start to air in the UK, I'll just download them. The seasons ended a while ago in the UK...probably 2 or more months ago.

Wait, so you've seen the episode of Atlantis where they defend it somehow from the Wraith? Or are you farther behind then us? Not thet is really matters, but still...

And I forgot that I Tivo the OC. Like Malkavian I seem to have a thing for sappy dramas about SoCal.

Wasn't there a band/group of black rapers named like that?

Don't watch anything regularly. Maybe the news, but not often. I got bored hearing about jet another tax/finantial/polital scam done by my country's politicians.

I used to wach the Cartoon Network as early as I got cable (about 10 years ago) but stopped about 3 years ago. Now I mostly watch the Discovery Channels (travel and living, Civilisation, Animal Planet, Science and Discovery).

This may seem a bit embarrasing...But...um...I watch Recess...
*Waits for beating*

Anyway, I watch Cinematech, South Park, and sometimes something on the History Channel.

HAH! When I was young we only had one channel on the norwegian tv and that was IN BLACK AND WHITE!

God I'm old.....

When I was young the only channel we had was on for thirty minutes every month, and it was uphill both ways and wolves would descend upon us and pick one of the weaker kids to rip to shreds and then we had to do our homework in the bloody snow... er, sorry, wrong thread.
