"Hello community!

It's been almost 5 years since I last posted .... I feel like I'm in confession .... and if you remember me at all then you might know that I used to be a major player for an old, now defunct, Fallout 2 total conversion mod called Fan Made Fallout. Do a search, there are some old posts of ours/mine still floating around here somewhere. Sadly, that project closed it's virtual doors in 2009 and if you go to the website now you'll find a page that you'll likely need to translate in order to read.

But a lot can happen in 5 years.

Last year, in November, a friend of mine who has worked on a number of official Fallout titles passed along word that there was a new mod in the works that was looking for people. And that's how I became a part of my new Fallout TC project: Fallout: Lonestar. We are creating a brand new game, currently modding on the G.E.C.K., that takes place in Texas (ironically, so did FMF). We are currently in pre-production and there's a TON of writing taking place on a daily basis. We are also creating a fair amount of concept art we're sharing with the community as we go. I'd like to invite you all to come over to our website and check us out!

To get the basic project information, go here (not updated to often, yet):
http://falloutmagnifico.com/

And to interact with us, check out our Facebook and Twitter pages (which get updated the most, so be sure to LIKE and FOLLOW):
https://www.facebook.com/Fallout.Lonestar
https://twitter.com/FalloutLonestar

Please feel welcome to come check us out any time and follow along with our development!

As a member of this community for almost 10 years I know how rare it is to see a project of this scope succeed. I've seen projects come and go ... and I've been a part of one for over 4 years. This feels so different. Come on this journey with us and see for yourself!

See you all in Texas!

Lots of post-apocalyptic news lately!

This looks really good, will definitely play it when it's done. Do you have a forum or is it all facebook/twitter nowadays?

Anyway, nice to see you're still in the fallout modding business. Good luck with the project!

HOLY CRAP!!! AGRAJAG! Hey man! How are you? It's good to see you!

Right now we're all Twitter and Facebook as far as reaching our followers/fans so those two links are your best bet. And of course the individual Twitters of the development team. We don't have a forum set up for fan interaction yet so places like NMA will probably be our stomping ground until we do. I'll try and drop in and mention anything exciting going down and answer questions when I can.

Thanks for the well wishes! Good to see someone from the FMF days still lurking!

Looks good, but taking it to Kickstarter for funds? It seems like Bethesda will shut this down if there is any attempt to raise capital for it.

They've let fan films go, but I don't see them letting a game raise money with their license.

That's one of the challenges of what we're trying to do. It is important to note, however, that we're not selling this mod to anyone. The mod is free. When it's done, everyone can download and play it. Kickstarter funds will go to making sure the project is completed.

I got that part, but I don't think the profit part will matter if you are requesting funds for creation. It still amounts to "income" as you will be "paid" (some amount) for the work you put into the game. Sure, it may not be much, or even enough to live on for more than a month or two, but I'm pretty certain you will not be allowed to accept any money, for any reason, while creating a game using an existing license you do not own.

I say this not to discourage. I think the idea is fantastic and would love to see it made. I say this because I do want to see it created and think it likely that you will not be able to make it at all if you take it looking for funds.

It's a fair question and one we've considered ourselves. We won't know how Bethesda will react until we try and say what we're doing officially. For now it's not stopping the awesome people we already have from creating some amazing content :)
Will cross the bridges when we come to them!

It's probably worth it to just contact them pre-emptively. The Nuka Break dudes did that and it worked out fine, though it was a very different kind of project, and in case they're against the idea at least you haven't spent any energy coming up with your Kickstarter.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck SotW! Don't have time to fully check out the project, but it looks pretty impressive from a brief scan of the website. Like I said to matey from the Van Buren crew, I wish I had the time to pitch in and help out, but that is one asset that is in painfully short supply.

I hope it fares better than FMF! ;)

Don't worry guys. We have a plan but we appreciate the advice.

STEVIE D! What's up!

I hope it does, too! FMF was a great time though. I'll never forget it. Glad to see you're still alive!
