The absolute Scum of GAming Experiences

Icewind Dale 2 : installed it, played it for like ten minutes, thought "WTF ?", uninstalled it.
I have some serious beef with Masters of Orion... I never understood how anyone could enjoy such a game... Just, blah! That was not done right until Sins of a Solar Empire.

Next you're going to tell me that they didn't get Civilization right until Rise of Nations.

I think that the Shooter Genre is slowly merging with Action RPGs. I am playing Deus Ex right now, and man, THAT is immersion! Sure, JC Denton is not exactly a deep character, but for a Action RPG, there are incredible characters and many ways to play! The story is the better part, it's so misterious that it pulls me further to play it more and more. If someone thinks about making a FPPRPG, he/she should look first at Deus Ex.

And I hate Silent Protagonists, too. They have all the charisma of a metal pole. Doom Marine = Nonspeaking even in Doom 3. Gordon Freeman = NEVER speaks, not even grunts. Master Chief = I don't remember him talking much, talking a little, but not much. Silent Protagonists are boring, you think you're playing with a mute or something.

That's why Duke Nukem's the coolest FPS protagonist. He is a character. The others are just... avatars.

Funnily enough, I always preferred the silent avatars. Link, for example. While you had the combat screams and grunts, he never speaks, and the day Nintendo gives Link a voice actor and dialogue will be the day I never play a Zelda game again probably. Just wouldn't be the same.

Nothing wrong with a protagonist with a personality and a voice, really. Just depends on the game. I would've hated a Master Chief that was screaming and shouting epithets at the enemy. Don't think I'd like it if Gordon Freeman started making snarky remarks to try and inject "personality" into him either.

Also, I never really got what was so great about Duke Nukem. I mean, some of the things he says are amusing, and the whole over-the-top parody of American pop culture has its charms. However, I tend to be put off by the loud, braggart sort of personality, whether in a character or real life. Maybe that's why I was never "omfg duke nukem's so kewlzorz."

@horst: ever played Star Wars Republic Commando? It's a great SP experience for an FPS, in fact it's the better FPS I've ever played - hope someday LucasArts make a sequel or something (Imperial Commando, maybe?).

Of course, the multiplayer isn't great, but again it wasn't the focus of the developers; plus Half-Life/Counter-Strike/Unreal are there for multiplaying, it's hard to beat these.

Resume: you WILL find immersion in FPS if you play SW:RC, here is a video:

Real immersion, not Beth's "OMG bloom'n immershun lol"
Yep, have played it. Great game  .

WesDude, did you try the latest Ubisoft patch and the mouse aim mod?

I managed to finish the game with the mouse aim mod. That should make the experience far more enjoyable.

for me, it was quite clearly postal 2.
Nothing can possibly be as bad as this game. I played it for about an hour before deinstalling, formatting my hard drive, (literally) burning the CD and basically destroying any evidence of me ever playing that piece of shit they actually have the nerve to call "game".

As for Resident Evil, I played it with the Mouse-Mod, too. It was still awkward. And you had LOADS of Ammo and frickin' shopkeepers. I mean, what the fuck?

The Secret of Monkey Island. That game was such Scumm.
Lizard Man, you are trolling pretty much, lately. I mean, being an Admin and all...

I'm a dick who's telling Phil although he probably already knows that it's not SCUMMVM but SCUMM the engine that the games were created from.

But Phil already knows and Eyenixon is just a dick.

Superman 64, rented it when I got my first video game system before I learned to research games before even getting close to them.

Dreamfall the longest journey, I played the original "The longest journey" and really enjoyed it. But the sequel was just a rather sub par action adventure. Lacking the excellent storytelling and humor of the original.

I know about Monkey Island and SCUMM, thankyouverymuch. Please explain to me in short and simple words how that makes Pers comment less of a troll.
But I wasn't entirely serious in the first place, so fuck you. Fuck all of you!

It was an attempt at humor using a clever play on words.

The correct response would have been "i c what u did thar".

Shaq Fu: If you have ever played it you understand. It's a fighting game where Shaq is the main character in a alternate dimension he entered in China or some shit.

Vanguard: Worst MMO ever. Start game up. Crash. Start game up crash. Everyone quits playing game. World empty.

GTA San Andreas: Is it just me or is it really annoying to hear a bunch of gangbanging black guys talk about capping people and smoking pot the whole game? I like GTA. I don't mind gangs in a game. I just don't like the whole game being about working out, eating, and gangbanging. GTA 4 did it slightly better.

Chuck Rock: A platformer for SNES about a caveman. Made me gouge my eyes out due to the fact that you have to be 1 mm close to someone to hit them with your belly bounce attack.

RACIST! RACIST!

But really, San Andreas was a satire, the whole game was meant to be humorous, you don't really think black people act like that do you?

I've actually been around tons unfortunately so heh. I just could not get into the story of that game, so it really ruined it for me. It would have been ok without that. I'm not racist either. I hate everyone including myself.

Ah, now I see it. "Scum" is in the thread title, so he made a so-called pun on SCUMM, which is a Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion and also the engine they used for Monkey Island, so of course he doesn't actually dislike the game, ahahahahahahah haahahahaaaahahahah, that's so cleverly funny, ahahahah-Idon'tgetit.

It was still trolling, mang! :ugly:

P.S. Not that I would care.

Those were some cutscenes. The game is called Revolution X for Snes and Genesis and it was scum.
