So what is everyones opinion of the new Star Wars movie? I myself loved it. It clarified most questions that have been brewing in my mind for years, however it lacked a little as far as Anakins turn to the dark side. He pouted a lot, he worried about Padme, he wanted to be a Master.....etc. Overall I give it a 8.

I totally loved it.

*Warning: spoiler ahead*

...

I especially loved it at the end where C-3PO's memory was about to be erased. I always wondered how come he didn't remember he's been on Tatooine before... and especially at the same farm.
Is that a bad thing btw, if I wonder about stuff like that? :P

My thoughts, copied from The Order:

My list:
1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. TIE - Attack of the Clones and Return of the Jedi (both had their weaknesses and strengths)
5. The Phantom Menace

SPOILERS AHEAD

I really loved this. It was the prequel movie I hoped it would be, and I forgive Lucas for his previous transgressions. I teared up several times, but nothing got to me like the final sequence of Obi-Wan delivering Luke to Owen and Beru. The single shot of Owen standing on the hill watching the sunset, the same thing Luke would be doing 20 years later, it just made me shrivel up.

R2-D2 was probably my favorite part of the movie. I love the fact that, in the end, Bail Organa mentions to Captain Antilles that Threepio's memory is to be erased, but he says nothing of R2. The fact that R2 is in every single important place and is spectator to every important event in the entire series is really awesome. Not to mention the fact that he pretty much saves everyone's ass.

General Grievous was disappointing. He was much cooler in the Clone Wars cartoon.

I was bummed that Count Dracula (er...Dooku) went out like a sucka. But I guess it was important to Anakin's journey down the path of the Dark Side.

Yoda riding Chewbacca around was cute. Yoda ruled hard in this movie. He doesn't fuck around. Best line: "Anything to do with it, not if I have!"

Ewan McGregor was excellent. He really has become one with the Obi-Wan character. I loved the fact that he seemed to be getting older and grumpier, kind of beginning his life as a "crazy old wizard." I loved how gleefully irritated he seemed with everything. He really took it to the edge too, at the end. You seriously felt the heartache that Kenobi was going through when he was fighting Anakin, and how painful it must've been to leave him there, burning.

The whole "becoming Vader" plotline was great. It was also nice to see how Palpatine became so hideous, I had always just assumed it was a combination of the dark side twisting his features, and age. Ian McDirmid is awesome. To play the Emperor in the originals, and then come back and play him again twenty years later and twenty years younger, takes a bit of work. It was awesome to see him step back into that makeup with that twisted little voice again

The sequence where Vader is put together, so to speak, was excellent. Shivers went down my spine the first time I heard that breathing. The raw emotion that was shown when Palpatine told Vader he was responsible for the death of Padme was intense. The last bit of Anakin was killed away, there.

I loved the scene aboard the bridge of what would eventually become a Star Destroyer, as Palpatine, Vader, and Tarkin looked on at the framework for the first Death Star.

Hayden Christianson was much better in this film. I blame any of his shortcomings solely on the script he was given, as he probably had the worst lines of the film. By the middle of the movie, he really had become the human personification of Vader.

Some continuity errors I noticed:
In A New Hope, Obi-Wan tells Luke that he hasn't been called "Obi-Wan" since long before Luke was born. This could of course be a slight deception, as Kenobi tended to do that in the original trilogy...with good intentions, of course.

I also find it hard to believe that Obi-Wan would forget all about R2. Of course, this might be another deception...or rather, hidden truth.

In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Leia "What do you remember of your mother? Your...real mother." Leia responds that she was beautiful, but very sad. Uh, hold the phone. Amidala dies during childbirth. How could Leia possibly know that?

You know guys I'll share a funny quote with you:

The movie has had its premiere, so now there's no such thing as a spoiler.

Phunny, eh? Poles are dumb.

Also, it was in a thread dedicated to what Malk pointed out in the final paragraph.

Meh, it had the same bad writing and inorganic CG animation that plagued the first two (mainly the cheesy attempts at humor and the ridiculous droid/alien behaviors); but it was definitely the best of the three prequels.

Throughout the entire movie, I was waiting for Skywalker/Vader to ask Obi-Wan to give Luke his (Vader's) lightsaber when "he is old enough;" guess it was just another one of Obi-Wan's lies he had told Luke.

My list:

1. Return of the Jedi/Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Attack of the Clones
5. Phantom Menace

I thought it was funny how Lucas managed to take a last minuite shit on all the fans by finding a way to put Jar Jar Binks in the movie... :-p

Mesa Jackoff

*spoilers ahoy*

In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Leia "What do you remember of your mother? Your...real mother." Leia responds that she was beautiful, but very sad. Uh, hold the phone. Amidala dies during childbirth. How could Leia possibly know that?

Amidala died giving birth to Leia. Its understandable that children with a strong force presence like Luke and Leia would've received strong impressions from their mother while still in the womb. Leia's memory is an impression.

General Grievous was definitely the worst part of the movie, considering how he didn't kill a single Jedi. Those that never saw the Clone Wars cartoon will never understand exactly how much of a badass he was, though I suppose it stands to reason that he couldn't do much after Windu caught up with him.

What I also don't get is that Obi-Wan says only Sith deal in absolutes, while later saying that Darth Sidious is evil. Great reasoning, dork.

IMHO, the best part of all the prequels. Nice acting, although some lines were really under the level. And it does link well with New Hope.

BTW - have you noticed the already undergoing standarisation of equipment? Republic Soldiers now have armor similiar to Stormtroopers, and star destroyers are more like their Imperial versions.

And how many human limbs were flying through the air in this film?

I just saw the movie. It is great. It is everything Episode I and Episode II should have been. This is what I have been waiting for. Now I can die happy.

Did anyone notice that in the scene where Anakin and OBW went into the elevator, after they had finished killing the droids, there was a shot of them leaving the elevator. My question to you: Where were the dead pieces of droid?

Another question: Where was Han Solo? Wouldn't he have been about 15 at the time? They managed to put in the stupid wookie, but there's no Han. That's just dodge.

The only thing Belgians are good at is either ignoring African genocide or being the cause of it.

The Belgians never had anything to do with any genocides. What the Rwandese did in the nineties, thirty years after we were gone, is not our fault. That's like saying the Dutchies were to blame for the terrorist attack in that club in Java...

*EDIT* And they also never ignored it.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Americans are equally responsible for said genocide.

It might have something to do with the fact that at the time of Episode III Han Solo is a completely anonymous teenager living in some shithole and completely irrelevant to galactic events. Not all characters of the old trilogy need to appear in episodes 1,2 and 3 for sole reason that they are alive in period in which those episodes are set.

Han was actually a smuggler by that point, working throughout the galaxy and returning to Correllia on occasion. I would've liked to have seen a cameo by young Han Solo, but it might've been more of a distraction than a neccessity.

And don't call Chewie "stupid." I will fight you.

I'll went to CinemaXX in Oberhausen tomorrow. I prefer to see this movie in a _really_ theater, not in this ridiculous little chamber with a stamp-sized screen here in Mülheim.
You can see me here at exactly the same place tomorrow evening, complaining about a bad German translation or too much special effects and insufficient plot.

Just saw the movie and I must say it's excellent, everything was great except that godawful Hayden Christiansen who couldn't act his way out of a nutsack. Also, what the hell was wrong with Grievous? He kicked ass in Clone Wars. Chewbacca was maaaaaybe a little too much.
Oh yeah, I had a grin ear to ear when I heard the pfoin when Anakin force jumps when I recognised that it's the sound from the Star Wars (dark forces) games.
