The Courier's Mile

DynV

First time out of the vault
My 1st venture in Lonesome Road was at L(evel) 32. I'm now L48 and recently started a 2nd one and discovered The Courier's Mile. Holly molly! That place is quite unwelcoming and I plan to come back later. I think FNV Ultimate is capped at L50, if so I plan to install a mod to increase that. At which level do you recommend I go in there?

The earliest possible, at least without mods that remove level scaling. Deathclaws there hit for 350 at highest level + tons of health + regenerate.

Whenever you want Bloodnap I guess.
How is that an issue,
it's right at the beginning with no enemy around and you don't even need to sneak (which if needed would be to avoid a fight)
?

While I'm back at this thread I managed to complete that section using
satchel charges, which the vast majority came from good 'ol Ed-E (the rest from disarming them in the rest of the DLC). Although I did cheat as I didn't want to wait another 3 levels. I removed a perk that gave me little use, which to not be an uber-cheater I plan to pick again at L52, and replaced it with Light Step. I covered the area with enough distance between them so they wouldn't set each other off then lured as few enemies as I could then replaced the used charges. At first I tried to get the Marked men by themselves as there's some distance between them and the Deathclaws but somehow one always managed to get involved which would ensure my death (in addition to the Marked men).

Update 1:
While I now regret taking the perk I removed, I did as I planned (pick again at L52).

Bring Rad-X and Rad-Away with you. LOTS of it. Turbo/Implant GRX doesn't hurt.

If you still have the Compliance Regulator from Honest Hearts with you, it's a must. That crit-stun effect goes a long way toward dealing with Deathclaws and Marked Men. Even Ulysses, Gaius Magnus, and Col. Royez will go down because no one and nothing in the game is immune to the stun effect. Hit some Turbo and Steady, spam the CR til you land a crit, then finish the Deathclaws off with another, stronger weapon. Lather, rinse, repeat. As long as you keep popping Turbo or Implant GRX (if you took both ranks, good), the Deathclaws shouldn't get close enough to hurt you. You just have to worry about radiation and, if playing Hardcore mode, ammo weight, hunger, thirst, and sleep.

I did not play Honest Hearts as I did the vanilla final mission past HH implied recommended level (I continued playing using the system save (right before I started the Hoover Dam mission)) but I intend to do so in a new game once I'm done with this one (which I don't think will start before weeks from now); when I get high enough in that new game, hopefully I'll remember your post.

If you have a guns build and an AMR you can go there so long as you have 3-4 stealthboys and buy some mines/c4.
