The deathclaw - Modoc

Is the Deathclaw in Modoc there for any reason except for being a nasty suprise to anyone that works out how to get into the pen?

Also dont you think the deathclaws are pussys compared to the few in Fallout 1?
 
It's more that in FO2 you're given too good weapons too soon, and possibly too much XP so you level up easyer.
 
Well, the deathclaw acts like a chicken.

More importantly, though, Modoc has a very extensive evil quest list: Marry, kill the spous, go back and tell dad. Have the Modoc people invade the Ghost Farm and kill everyone. Tell Johnny's dad that he's dead and, last but not least, release the deathclaw and run like hell out of the field. Come back a while later and everyone's dead, except the deathclaw.
 
There's also Bess which you can save, get the whole town to hate you for it, only to find her dead in the desert!

Modoc is full of fun stuff to do.
