The first English S.T.A.L.K.E.R. review

I was talking about how "interpreting the screenplay" was relevant to the point at hand.

Pay attention.

''No. How is this relevant? ''

I'm no Rosh and my english is mediocre, so I wont write an essay now, but this kind of response clearly shows that ignorance and dumbfuckery is nothing unfamiliar even to hardcore NMAers, when the issue is not concerned with Fallout stuff.
I think that this kind of response shows your idiocy rather clearly, since you too miss the point.

See, Wooz never said that Tarkovsky created a film close to the novel, only close to the screenplay that the novel's writers provided him. He noted this after *Akudin* claimed that Tarkovsky had interpreted the *novel*.

You show perfectly what Akudin's been doing for a while on these boards: inventing conflicts where there are none and twisting people's words to fit these invented conflicts.

And regardless of all that, that point has absolutely dickshit to do with STALKER, the game.

Ok, I didn't pay enough attention to the last Akudin's post, where he literaly says that Strugackies interpreted their own screenplay, although it might be just misspelling, english not being the native languahe and shit, ya know. They DID interpret their own novel into screenplay, so it's quite close.

I was probably rather reacting to the reply, that started this falmewar:

I am not into first shooter games, so I won't comment on the game itself, but having read "The Picnic By The Roadside" and watched "Stalker", the last of Tarkovsky's great films, and from which STALKER presumably draws its title, to name a first person shooter game "STALKER" is like making Stanislaw Lem's SOLARIS (for the sci-fi buffs among you) into a first person shooter game. Sad to see. I wish they'd have made th original "Picnic" into a CRPG, that would have been awesome and mindblowing...
More idiocy from Akudin. STALKER in no way (other than a periphal one) takes its name from the Tarkovsky movie.

Now, Sander, where did Akudin said anything, that contradicts with your reply, which for some idiotic reason includes riddiculously harsh insult, for which I see no reason for. Trying to be Rosh's susbtitute? U fail, sry.

Then next time, reply to that post instead of a completely different issue.

In the post I quoted. You know, the bit that says 'and watched "Stalker", the last of Tarkovsky's great films, and from which STALKER presumably draws its title' and the subsequent bullshit whining about the creators of STALKER making a first-person shooter of the movie and/or book.
Did you just decide to skip that part entirely to whine about some perceived injustice?

Gnidrologist said:

That's because you fail to look at post history. Next time, you may want to know what you're talking about before commenting.

Nice troll. Now stop trolling.

the last of Tarkovsky's great films,

Definitely not, all of his movies were awesome, I named my kid partially because of him.

I vote for removing Akudin's avatar and rank, although i never agreed with him on anything. Ever, he's a bit weird, but that's standard on our community.

Gnidrologist and Sander, move to PMs now, maybe?

I certify we'll remove him altogether, if he keeps up the lying/conflict combo attitude.

I didn't skip no part at all. Both, you and Akudin (who's post history is irrelevant and unninteresting to me, if it does not cocnern the issue we're talking about) said, that Stalker game 'draws' it's title form Stalker movie. Let back up that with quotes:
'Akudin' said:
and from which STALKER presumably draws its title
'Sander' said:

Now, how do those two contradict?

See above.
I saw a good point by user, who's post history I haven't thoroughly inspected, and agreed with it. Uh oh, I'm ignorant fuck.

See, you're trying to act exactly like Rosh calling everyone, who opposes his opinion a troll/idiot[insert some more eloquent expletives here].
Rosh has gained some kind of holy cow's status here, because of his 'entertaining werbal diarrhea' perc and connection/knowledge towards gaming industry. You, on the other hand, are boring and as knowledgable as every next poster, so fuck off with your namecalling. You are as mutch of a troll as I am now.

Then 1/2 of NMA forum content must've been moved to PM's long time ago.

*sigh*
Please don't do the bullshit selective quoting bit. It's annoying.
Because, you know, you failed to quote the entire sentence which included "and the subsequent bullshit whining about the creators of STALKER making a first-person shooter of the movie and/or book. "

Now either make a valid point or just shut up.

'OMG they're sullying the name of Stalker' is a good point?
Give me a fucking break.

Strike one for trolling.

Here's what trolling is in the form you are doing it: derailing a debate and creating conflicts just to get a response. Now cut it out.

You, on the other hand, are boring and as knowledgable as every next poster, so fuck off with your namecalling. You are as much of a troll as I am now.

Why was that necessary? Geez, I give up

Actually, from all I`ve seen, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is much closer to Strugatsky bros novel than Tarkovsky`s film. He may be in some kind of holy cow status in the geekdom, but he never cared for Strugatskys` novel, it was just a setting for him for three characters to exchange deep philosophical blabber.

can we vatsplit the meaningless and off-topic junk please?

i for one have become interested in the game due to the posts and such here and will buy it. the first game i will have bought since that dissapointment M&M dark messiah...

of course i can only blame that on myself for not seeing that it was not a RPG.

but this game does seem interesting to me and i know its been talked about on occassion for the past few years here but the common theme was it was always vaporware. seems like they managed to pull something decent out of their hats wich beats 99.99999999999% of the other crap publishers are putting out.
