The future of the Brotherhood of Steel?

I think that actually the brotherhood of steel outcast might become quite successful. I mean even though there a even smaller group than the brotherhood of steel they will probably grow to be succesful as that be there streght , As the core botherhood of steel will look to protect people ect they will split from the ideals that brought them orginal succesful and if they get to late cracks will apear and with optiently leader dieing in fallout 4 they will defintly be in trouble.

The outcast will stay small in number but will get powerful over time

I don't think the Outcast will last very long. It would have to take an incredible leader to get them to take on the east's brotherhood. Remember at the end of Operation Anchorage, when the commander of outpost lets you take all of the goodies his second in command kills him causing a small battle inside of bunker. With an organization that explosive I don't see them existing for very long.

Probably not, they seem to still exist as an isolated group but have started to help the indigenous peoples with domestic issues. But in the sense of a governing body that collects taxes and passes laws? No, they most certainly are not the government.

Except, they causally took Rivet City's nuclear generator.

If you had a gun pointed to your head, you'd obviously comply with the orders of the gunman. I presume that's what happened to Rivet City since the Brotherhood became expies of the Enclave at that point.

So what? That doesn't make them a government.

It doesn't not make them a government. The Brotherhood of Steel controlled the distribution of water in the Capital Wasteland in brotherhood of steel.

I don't see why they wouldn't have taken over given we know they take over settlements for food and caps in the Commonwealth.

Why can't they just grow food themselves? Why can't they just trade with other settlements? None of the Brotherhood members really give off the impression that they want to become the government of the land they inhabit. Really it seems more to me that they are more focused on destroying whatever is better than them or just simply cleaning up the all the baddies from the wastes. If the Brotherhood were to become a government they would have to want to become the government, and from what I've seen they clearly don't.

Except, again, we know how the BoS in the Commonwealth operates. They take over settlements and make them supply food for the Brotherhood.

It's even a questline.

Also, you don't join the BOS to pick the dirt.

Yes, because the Brotherhood is definitely the kind of group to become dependent to civilians. Also which questline?

Arthur Maxson isn't an idiot. He's rebirthed the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel in a proper feudal fashion.

It's the logistics quest. You can force a settlement to supply the BoS.

Well I guess I'm saying the Brotherhood would do better to have subjects than waste their members on farming.

Yeah sure. Just import food around your empire with vertibirds and pack brahmin and you've got a done deal.

That seemed less of a common operating procedure and more of a forced situational event. The brotherhood had just arrived and only brought military, and just a small portion they can fit on their ship and some vertibirds. Odds are in the capital wasteland they'd made farms and either had a more amicable relationship with the commoners or at least have their own crops they're creating but don't have that operating base in the commonwealth and need to improvise.

While never directly stated, I think it would be good if the Capital Wasteland were ever revisited to have the Brotherhood of Steel serving as the feudal overlords of the region. They would recruit from the locals, protect them from Super Mutants as well as Raiders, while also being paid by the locals in tribute.

It'd be the same set up as the Minutemen only the Brotherhood of Steel would be able to enforce their situation as well as dispense justice as the judiciary force.

It would be its own nation then, just a nondemocratic one.
