The Glow, Glitches, and me.

No dice, again. I think what was missed is that you edited the GLOW1, which I think covers floors 1, 2 and three, while GLOW2 covers floors 4, 5, and six. I am trying to get from glow2 to glow1, basiclly(floor 4 to 3), and thats where it is crapping out on me.

I have put a zipped copy of the save slot online, in the same directory as I posted it the first time.

Thanks again for your guys' continuing support of this lowly Fallouter.

Ah, well, I didn't realize you were trying to get from glow2 level 1 to glow1 level 3. This is a different problem. Renaming glow2.sav to glow2.map and opening in the mapper. Turning off scenery reveals a green hex inside the elevator. Selecting scenery then clicking on the green hex, then edit, reveals the script name. The script glorddor.int is what the elevator uses. But the int file is binary, so it must be decompiled. I have a decompiled copy but I don't think it's going to help. Sounds to me like something on glow1.map is corrupted (or possibly even glow2.map).

I think you're SOL. Even if the script could be changed, it's attached to the map, the map would have to be rebuilt, and FO1 maps saved in the FO2 mapper don't work. Last time I only looked at things in the mapper and threw away the saved copy, then edited the original save game directly. It was possible because it was a simple change of two numbers (start tile and elevation). In this case the script needs to change, and I don't think that is possible without rebuilding the map. You're stuck in the glow, and you died there, not even the rats are interested in your carcass LOL

You'll have to erase the saves that include the glow and play it again. It doesn't take very long to play this part over again.

Couldn't he just to extract the original files from the Master.dat file and rename the extensions to .sav

Thsi would probably just mean that when you load the game you will have to re-do the glow location from scracth.

Now, let me make sure I understand you.

Fallout/data/SAVEGAME/SLOT2...Erase GLOWENT.sav, GLOW1.sav, and GLOW2.sav?

Because I tried to load a game without those the second two glow files, and it gave me am 'Error Loading Game! Unable to load game.' error, and faded to white and then the main screen.

So...ENDUSER=CONFUSED.

You may have to go back to a previous save that didn't include the glow. You DO have one of those, don't you? What I do is:

1) Have a save slot for each area. When I run out of save slots I just keep replacing them from the top.

2) Before entering combat I save to a slot I call Temp. If a reload crashes in Temp save (ie save game corrupted), I can always go back to the last save in this area.

I am not sure the save game format is identical to the map format. Deleting the whole slot is a clean way to re-do an area.

Try doing what I suggested, but delete glow1.map after loading instead of glow2.map (I thought you were on the upper levels going down). This has worked for me when going from the entrance into a previously corrupted level 1 (i.e. glow1.map). It should save you starting over at least.
