The Hobbit to be actually made???

This is most likely a big stupid April Fool's Joke, but this "official" website has announced that the Hobbit will begin filming

Note, however, that there's a "Special Announcement" set for tomorrow. This will most likely be something like "April Fools, assholes!!"
 
The special announcement is going to be that the whole film will be made in canada. Using nothing more than a sony handicam, a few bits of string, a half burned scrap of paper and a purple sippie-cup.

That's a much better budget to work at than Jackson's overblown stick-in-ass budget

It'd kick Lord of the Rings' ass easy with those tools

PS: if the Hobbit is to be made, which I hope it isn't, it'll suck

The key word here is "profit". It's an april fool's joke but I'm sure they are going to make this movie soon or later. 2005 or 2006.
 
What would be the point in filming The Hobbit? They should have done that BEFORE filming the LoTR trilogy. Would have saved them a shitload of trouble in the Fellowship of the Ring. Less time would have been spent having the audience brought to speed.
 
Actually I have also heard that someone is planning to film the Hobbit.

I didn't like the animated one, but it was pretty successful for what it was. I think there are enough Lord of the Rings folks that would see it.
 
You may be right. Personally I hate when they do this Star Wars shit of releasing sequels before prequels. You actually see technology evolving when you go back in time and worsen as you go forwards. Probably won't be an issue with the Hobbit as they would be in the same era.

This afternoon we had a little chat with New Line. Apparently the press release we'd posted earlier (as some of you had guessed) was a hoax. It fooled us -- good job. Very good job, in fact. So good we're going to keep an eye on this hoax to see what tomorrow's "announcement" is going to be.

They announced that they did the april's fool shit just because they wanted support to make the movie. So I guess they suck dick.
