The Passion of Jack Chick

Ah, Montez, sorry to give more ammo to the "enemy" in this debate. One thing against Catholic honesty concerning cash management: Remember the whole deal with the sin amnesties? "Give cash to build St Peters' and your sins will be forgiven!!11"

Yeah, if you love God, burn a church.

Yeah, that's part of the reason I don't follow any religion. My parents were raised catholic, and though they stopped going to church before I was born some of it rubbed off on me. I went to a catholic high school (couldn't stand the thought of 4 more years with some of the scumbags I went to elementary with) and decided that I might as well look into what it was all about. After reading about amenesties, the Crusades, the Inquisition, and some(most) of the popes I really couldn't take Catholicism seriously, and after reading more that got extended to all religions. About the only religion that I give any credit to is Taoism, though it's more of a psuedo-mystical philosophy than a real "religion". I should add that I never looked into it more than reading the Tao-Te-Ching and a little about Lao-Tzu, so for all I know it's just as bad as the rest.

I wonder how many people have claimed to be the new Messiah? There seems to have been quite a few of them over the years. Not just talking about recent years either, but the last two hundred some years of history.

Montez, ever looked into Shinto? Not a recommendation, just a question, since it tends to be classified as a more obscure religion. I've always been partial to the laid-back attitude of Egyptians towards Islam, it brings out the best points of the religion.

I prefer Japanese Buddhism. Shintoism to me is just regular old polytheism with some cool practices.

Anyway, it is obscure, as the Japanese have been transformed into the most secular people on the planet over the last 50 years. It's actually kind of amazing.

Egyptians tend to have more money thus the relaxed attitude. I tend to prefer Alevi Islam.

What I'm kind of asking myself is, wheater this guy realy belives that shit, or, does he only do it for money...

Jack Shit loves this chick. Visit his site http://www.chick.com/ and

a fanmade site http://www.chickcomics.com/.

I must confess that I read most of his tracts. And I use it as a way of torturing people at work, printing his tracts and putting it in strategic places to be found by the right people. It's fun to see their faces turn read after reading all that crap. I feel like Tyler Durden in fight club, corrupting our society.

I've heard of it but never really looked into it, I'll do so now though. I went through a phase of reading as much as I could find about various religions but it petered out before I got to Buddhism or more obscure (to westerners, at least) eastern religions.

It does seem like Egypt is a pretty well balanced country as far as religions go. Don't they have a large percentage of Christians as well? Maybe I just haven't read enough, but it seems like there isn't much religious strife there.

From what I've seen and read, the Coptic Christians in Egypt are a minority.

Before the Ottomans it was 50/50. When the British left it was 80/20. Now it's only 6% thanks to Arab Muslim growth.

Egypt, despite that, is still heavily influenced by Coptic Christanity, and it's entirely fair to say it has two natures.
