Seriously, in those days I avoided both sites like plagues. Too much images, what with those modem and turtle-telephone lines, access those sites are a bloody chore. And in those days I thought that a game didnt have a single review/preview on gamefaqs (either for or anti) was so boring that it didnt worth checking out... Yeah, I know.

It was all in '04, right after Bethesda acquired the license and before Oblivion was released, so Morrowind was the main point of reference. I don't know if it changed to "Oblivion with guns" right after that game came out, but it probably didn't take very long.

"Morrowind with guns and a nuclear feel" would be infinitely better than "Oblivion with guns". Though I nowhere believe that FO3=Ob with guns.

Ah, in that case, yes, I was around. I left such comparisons out because I was talking about "Oblivion with Guns" as a catchphrase/soundbite specifically - a phrase which has led a rather cameleon existence.
