The Stunning (and Horrifying) Truth about Fallout 3 Add-ons

Lepidus

First time out of the vault
I just looked over each piece of Fallout 3 Official content and came to a most depressing conclusion that directly proves that Bethesda's writers are pedantic and massively idiotic.

[sarcasm]
Operation: Anchorage! = ICE LEVEL!!!
The Pitt = FIRE LEVEL!!!
Point Lookout = SWAMP LEVEL!!!
Mothership Zeta = MOON BASE LEVEL!!!
[/sarcasm]

Since when is it okay to make content for a supposedly maturely-written game the rough equivalent of friggin' Pokemon games for the gameboy advance!? I can't believe that I didn't realize this until now, but I knew there had to be a reason that playing through these expansions gave me flashbacks to Crash Bandicoot for the original Playstation...

Not to mention that Mothership Zeta is just undescribably stupid on so many levels...

And in the normal game we have Sewer Levels, Cave Levels, Subway Levels, Urban Levels, Enormous Building Levels, Generic Levels(wasteland) and Dungeon Levels(vaults).

You forgot the Acannonical Bullcrap Level (Tranquility Lane).
I actually liked what they did with Tranquility Lane. It was one of the better written parts of the entire game. Honestly, if the main storyline had ended after that, I wouldn't hate the game as much as I do. Sure, it would have made a short story, but it would be infinitely better than the crap they did with the current ending (without Broken Steel. Haven't played that, and probably never will, so can't comment on it).

But yes, the DLCs are simply ridiculous. I laughed and cried at the same time when I read about Mothership Zeta. Why doesn't Bethesda just make their own post-apocalyptic game where they can do whatever they want, instead of constantly raping the Fallout universe. It's not like it wouldn't sell. I doubt that the number three after the Fallout name was what made this game sell.

Well I liked Point Lookout, the setting not making much sense in a post-apoc world notwithstanding. If Bethesda's gonna make DLC, it should be more exploration-oriented ones like this with a decent-sized area to actually explore.

Another one taking so long to realize that it never works if artists rule above authors - because it doesn't take long for them to think they can write fantastic stories themselves - which is the begin of the final downfall (my memory banks tell me this happened a lot of times in media history).

You might also already have realized with "The Pitt" that the DLCs were more for exhibiting the artists creative work than the consumers. Of course modders can now create any kind of world with all Fallout 3 DLC art parts. Like Operation TES V Hammerfell or Quake Lookout or Duke Nukem Zeta ? Did I forget to mention that in 2 weeks Zenimax will buy the rights for duke nukem forever ?

And my congratulations for finishing mothership zeta that fast !

I read on the wiki that in Point Outlook, some dude cuts out a piece of your brain. And there are 200 year old folks in there.

Honestly?

I don't know about that. When i ran across such wonderful locations such as 'Trash pile' i started to wonder if exploring were really all it cracked up to be.

Indeed, quite a lot of Point Lookout's explorable map was rather pointless, only a few locations truly mattered.
And with the Main Quest being so un-replayable it makes this DLC so terrible to go through for a second time.

I rather prefer the small numbered locations were every sublocation is packed together to give a better experience than all these small stupid locations that do not add to any quest and serve no purpose than some scenery.

Well done to Bethesda for taking an Easter Egg that was a little bit of fun on the original developers side and turning it fucking cannon, even though it being anything other than non-canon is pants on head parsnip in eyes retarded.

Point Lookout is decent DLC and stands out imo amongst F3's DLC. Has an interesting setting, a few interesting places/developments, and one or two characters I thought were decent. Plus it has tribals, which I thought was great to see again.

Talking to Croatoa reminded me of some of the tribals in Fallout 2, lol.
