This is the scenario/nation selection screen. You can choose a scenario from the left box and a nation from one of the flags

If you right click a flag you can choose any country in the world through a flag list

So, here is prussia 1836.
On the interface, left to right , top to bottom:
Button to the left of the crown: Territorial management, shows a list of states
Crown: Jumps to country overview(the current view)
Button to the right : military management, shows a list of armed forces and the recruitment and mobilization options
Flag,The name of your country, state religion
Scores: prestige, industrial and military score contribute to your general score, that decides the winner in the end of the game and your place in the rank of nations during it
Great Power: notes that your nation is one of the top 8 nations in the world, other nations have independent nation or uncivilized nation there.
Production:shows how much of each good your country is producing
Trade: the world market screen, were you buy and sell.
Budget: where you set your budget sliders
Politics: where you see the ruling party, system of government and social policies of your nation
Relations: diplomatic relations with other countries
Population: shows pie charts of your nation-wide population issues, ethnicity and ideology
Technology: where you set what to research
Top Counters:
Two little soldiers counter: manpower, used for recruiting new troops and reinforcing existing ones. Every manpower point represents 1000 able soldiers
Two crossed swords counter: leadership counter, used for recruiting generals and admirals. every general/admiral costs 10 leadership
Light bulb: research points, used for research(obvious)
Central date: game date
Little roman crown-thing i don't know its name in English: prestige, contributes to your victory score, can be attained by various ways.
Bag of money: your money
Paper with pen: Diplomatic actions, used in diplomacy.
