the top 100 games ever by IGN...

one glance at the topten should tell you enough. besides, it's a top 100 based on the scores given by people that are member of IGNorance. what did you expect?

... But instead KotOR II and Oblivion among the extremely few non-console title to get in. I'm amazed to see Grim Fandango in there.

Anyway, this is in the wrong forum, not Fallout related. Moving.

I can't believe some of that stuff is on there. The stuff I do agree with should be in completely diferent areas.

I checked out the first few pages (they even announced each page, 100 to 90, 90 to 80 and so on, on different days! Gah, the anxiety was killing me!), and after seeing that the titles listed there were predominantly for the Nintendo DS, Gameboy Advance and PSP, any value that list might have had instantly vanished. Fallout should be proud not to be in that list.

Except that Oblivion is available on console as well. Hah!

Only a "Top Seller" list.
Nothing new.
Really, I hate those lists. I prefer the list I can see in this forum.

Regards

EDIT: I can't believe it, I have read the "top ten" and it's really pathetic, much more than I have thought :?

what? are you blind or just dumb?

selling has nothing to do with it...

Our criteria for creating this list of your picks for the Top 100 Games of All Time are as follows:
* All games had to receive at least 1,000 reader ratings.

I think he was trying to be ironic, saying that games that sell a load of copies are somehow considered "better" by the unwashed masses than games that sell relatively fewer numbers.

You got the point ;)

By the readers of IGN to be precise. What? Are you actually surprised? IGN has always been mainly a console site. As fun as it is to bash the IGN horde, you really should take the premise of the list under consideration.

WTF! zelda, I mean yeah it was a fun game but not the greastest ever.
who the fuck counted that shit?

That Top Ten made me throw up in my mouth a little. Two Metal Gear Solid games and two Zelda games? Also, both Halo games managed to get in the top 25.

I know I'm not supposed to be surprised but goddamn. :(

yepp very interesting list

The only two games who deserved top 10 in that list was Chrono Trigger and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past imo.

A true list would only take into account one title per game series, IE no MGS 3 if MGS is already on there, Unless the latter version really revolutionized the genre. IE while FF3(US) was one of few widely spread RPGs back then FF7 truely brought RPGs to a new level.

Also whatever console it's on, or be it a PC game should have no importance. Great games are great games.

And the fact that 22 of 100 are Metroid, Zelda or Mario games, says it all about this top 100.

I am surprised none of you has made their own list (not that I could give you 100 games).

Here is my top ten based on how iconic or memorable the game is (and I know there are N threads about this but what the hell).

1. Wing Commander Privateer (I liked being able to talk shit in combat)
2. Fallout (Yes, number 2. I like blowing crap up in space a bit more than on the ground)
3. Close Combat Series
4. Arcanum (I hated the mechanics of the game but the setting and story were great)
5. Pirates! Gold (Pirates. What can I say)
6. Grand Theft Auto (I feel I need at least once console game in here and this is my favorite)
7. X-Com (Loads of fun)
8. Magic Carpet (Is anyone old enough to remember this? Hint: Ran on DOS)
9. Street Fighter II (Had to drop out of school because of it)
10. Castle Wolfenstein (I remember when it was just green and black)

Maybe we didn't post those because there's a friggin' sticky at the top of the forum called "10 best games", Buckle?

My bad. I haven't been around in a while and I didn't read the stickies. Apologies.
