Thief 3: Deadly Shadows

Geforce 4 Ti4600

That's your problem. It's a much better card than the FX5600 in most ways, but it doesn't support Dx9 (and pixel shaders 1.1 either, I think), which Thief relies on. I've read about people getting it working fine with Ti's though, so maybe it has to do with the driver version you're using.

Yeah, I pretty much blame my graphics card for my PC running like a fatso. Must be those recent FX drivers. I'll revert to a Ti driver. Cheers for reminding me. Hope Thief 3 (and splinter cell, and freedom fighters, and countless other games) works now.

I bought Thief 1 original when it first came out, as I did with Fallout 2.

I just love to be hiding in the shadows for five minutes, hearing the footsteps of the guards, figuring out were they are and if I have enough time to pass unseen and unheard to the other room. Or when I realize that I'm lost in a dark, scary place and if someone sees me I'm as good as dead.

Great game!

I'll get the Thief: Deadly shadows for sure! I am not normally fond of 1st person/ 3rd person shooters, but this is different. I've always had a thing for tactical games, and the Thief: Deadly shadows is one. I haven't played the previous parts.

It's good, guys. I'm a huge fan of the series, and I'm pretty pleased overall with the game. Ultimately, the missions are smallish when compared with the other two Thief games, and to make matters worse, there's less of them this time around as well; however, they did a pretty decent job at getting the Thief look and feel down (it's maybe not as steampunk as it should be, but I'll take what I can get in a world with shit like FOBOS). My only other complaint is the presentation, which just can't hold a candle to the other games.

Ah, well, to me this game's a keeper for sure.

I've really enjoyed Thief: Deadly Shadows, though I feel it would benefit from a bit more free play (my favorite part is just plain thievery from other humans).

I really did enjoy the third person perspective, with the dynamic shadows, it creates a whole new atmosphere. To see Garrett crouch against a wall, green eye glowing under the hood, while the light shimmers back and forth.
