Thrash metal vs NWOBHM/Traditional Heavy metal?

Well thrash metal is also heavily rhythmic. I don't know if I mentioned that. While it's nice and to be honest I've heard some of the most killer rhythms in Thrash metal. I feel that's where the repetition issues originates. I noted traditional heavy metal to have a good balance between it's rhythm and melody. While still sounding amazing.

Heavy metal sounds chessy as fuck in my , Black veil brides make me cringe internally

Thrash is really flexible genre. So flexible, Death and Black derived from it. Mostly Kreator blamed for showing it in the 90s and it's really biased blame. And progressive thrash doesn't take most of your time to for great complex song, they're mostly 3-4 minutes long while Dream Threatre and other most mainstream 'progressive metal "bands"' not only shit but boring shit.

Thrash was in a way heavy influenced by NWOBHM.

Slayer's best disc (for me haha) "Show no mercy" is a proof of beeing heavy influenced by Iron Maiden.

I am more in the road of Thrash and future derivations of the genre, but I consider both to be very very influencing subgenres.

It's not even a genre, just a word for unification of all these new heavy metal bands from england formed in late 70s. They both brought a lot from Punk Rock though.

Well indeed... but it represents a set with common characteristics. Punk influenced Metal... or backwards

Then shouldn't we say just Traditional Heavy Metal vs Thrash Metal?

Yes it was heavily influenced by NWOBHM. Also the American punk rock scene. As for which do I see better. Well i could say Tornado of Souls or Mr. Crowley.

Well yeah. How about you? Preferences?
Russian, Teutonic Thrash pretty much. And progressive thrash regardless of origin.
Heavy Metal just not my thing. Especially "Iron Maiden" one with it's 9-20 minutes operas of repeated riffs. The one exception and really enjoyable one is Judas Priest.

Priest is amazing. Have you heard Enforcer, White Wizzard, Cauldron, or Skull Fist? Pretty much a New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal. Tell me how they sound if you ever get the chance.
