[TIP] Matching the Game View with "MAYA"

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Ok, here's how you can set up your Maya scene and try to match the fallout game view:

1. Create new Orthographic top camera.
2. Rotate X: -25.5
3. Rotate Y: 60
4. Look Through new camera (top1) and go to "view/image plane/import image..." an select screenshot from game.

That should do it. It's NOT PERFECT but it's the closest I could get to the game view angle.
If you could get it to look better please post it.

And here's how you can set up light to match the one in the game:

1. Place Directional light (position of light in the scene is of no importance)
2. Rotate X: -55
3. Rotate Y: 55
4. In the Attribute Editor check "Use Depth Map Shadows"

Don't forget to lock the camera and light.
And if you do 640*480 render you'll get the real size object like in example, so you wouldn't need to go to photoshop and resize it(But you will need to go to photoshop to crop it).
Remember to render from new camera ;)
And as usual:

HAPPY MODDING!

The light position looks wrong. The shadow looks like it falls to the right of the "barrel", but those of the characters fall to the left.

It's not left as you said, but it's not right as i post it. It's top-front-centared.

By studying the light/shadow position closely for twenty whole seconds, I can say the light position is nearly completely acurate :ok:
Good work!
