Tips on how to learn more about Fallout

First time out of the vault
Hey everyone, im recently new to fallout, i just started playing fallout maybe about two weeks ago. I beat fallout 3 in a week, i couldn't put my controller down, and im already starting on new Vegas! however, i really want to learn more about the original fallout games and the lore behind everything! Are their any interesting ways of doing so, without watching a lets play?

Play them. Play Fallout (1) then play Fallout 2. Both these games are quite addictive, and if you enjoy them chances are you'll play them again.

On second playthrough you are bound to find something new, find alternative solutions to quests, dialogue options you didn't see before, etc.
On tenth playthrough you will still be finding new little details.
On my 100th playthrough, I still slap my thighs in excitement to find at least ONE little detail I hadn't found before.

In all honesty, that is the best way to learn everything you need to know. Don't spoil your fun by reading up too much beforehand, just throw yourself into the story.
 
And get at least Killap's fan patch for Fallout 2 or, even better, his restoration project. You might even want to consider waiting for the final version, 2.2 is currently beta. You can find links in the General Modding section.
