Torchlight for free / GoG Summer Sale

I played it for like 30 minutes long time ago and since then never again. The game seems good from what I could see in the 30 minutes, but damn... in singleplayer I find these kind of games just so damn boring.

you know watching those games and compareing them with the old ones ... it makes you kinda miss the rather "simplistic" art style, while it was a choice because of limited hardware back then, it feels today like every spell and every attack your character performs must look like its the "end of the world spell".

What happend with fireball spells yeah ... looking like ordinary fireballs?

Yeah.

But in defense of the game: Back in the years I actually played D2 alone for many, many hours. It's just that today I can't bear this anymore. My free time feels to precious for wasting it with senseless solo grind. So I can understand if someone likes to do this... but I can't anymore.

Yeah I had the same after playing D2 online. The sequel can be played in co-op though right? Anyone know if that's any good?

Thanks for the tip, grabbed it. Will probably dust it off whenever I get bored of Neverwinter MMO. I wish Torchlight II was as smooth-running and well-optimized as the first game.

You're welcome!

I personally haven't played the game, and am not really a fan of Diablo, but eh, it's free.

Some great titles on sale though.

That's for sure. The sale is massive. I like that it's called the summer NO-DRM sale. I passed over The Witcher 2 and Ultima 7 in favor of System Shock 2 and Sanitarium. Not bad for $10. Now I just have to find more time in the universe.

Here's my complete review of Torchlight: this game is a Diablo clone.

It's fun enough though.

I've bought the D&D package for NWN2 and Baldur's Gate complete. The former starts out slow in the core campaign, but seem to pick up the pace once you get out of the hillbilly village. For some odd reason it reminds me of KOTOR2.

It's a more "casual" title, I'd say, and still a great time-killer if you've got nothing better to do or are looking for a mindless title to relax.

No surprise here, same devs for both, right? (IIRC, don't hit me too hard if I'm mistaken).

NWN2 OC is a tad too linear but fun, though the last dungeon and ending are disappointing. Still, a nice game to own, especially considering all the great fan-made content, picked it up years ago during a Steam sale.

NWN2 is Obsidian, BG2 is Bioware. I played the latter (and loved it), did not the former.

I'm curious, as the games starts to pick up the pace and reviews mentioned that it really gets interesting around Neverwinter.

I meant NWN2 and KOTOR2. Obsidian did KOTOR2 as well, no? Haven't played it though.

Yeah it does pick up and has some really cool moments.

Just a heads up, they've got a big sale over the solstice for the next 24 hours rather than the two deals a day.

Bugger I get paid on the 28th.

I bought To the Moon and A New Beginning for 7€. Not bad.

Well, I'm out of cash too, but knowing myself, the D&D bundle + Arcanum will keep me satisfied for a time to come.

The bundles in this sale are ridiculous. The Complete Ultima bundle, the Bullfrog bundle...it goes on and on. I need a temporal stasis chamber.

BTW, you can get King of Dragon Pass for $1.50 for the next few hours. Nice.
