Transhumanism

Yes. Also, there are more things that weren't represented in F1.
Racial conflicts, gender conflicts, religious conflicts.
They all divide humanity.
That's why humanity needs the Unity - one race, one religion and one Master.

As for the Communism - I wonder if mutants have private property...

Some things in Master's philosophy of Unity may be construed as Marxist thought, but was it portrayed so in the game? Master's headquarters are at a CATHEDRAL, there is a room with the PEWS in Master's headquarters, and his disciples wear monastic ROBES. If the Master's Unity was supposed to represent any sort of Communist or revolutionary movement, there would be slogans on the walls Calling for all sentient beings of the Wasteland to Unite, Supermutants would have Commissars and the Master would be calling himself the Chairman or the Secretery General or something.

Communism might not be the intended ideology of the Master, but there is another possibility. In most of the world's mystical teachings there is a striving for the Unity of the Spirit, where the worshipper gives up his own individual soul/identity to merge with the Universal soul. That is also known as Unity, and is the basis of teachings in most modern cults.

Fallout is set in California, and California was known for both, revolutionary politics and new age philosophy. I think that the New Age is the inspiration for the Master and his Cathedral. Revolutionary politics is also represented in Fallout, but I saw the reflections of it in Adytown and in beret wearing Set in Necroipolis, who carried himself with the revolutionary chique of Che Guevara and the Black Panthers.

It's hilarious how you completely missed the master's "superior race" concept, and branded him a communist, pulling assumptions out of your ass.

Oh my fucking god. Can you get any more stupid?
You're over-analysing *everything*.

Communism?
Black Panthers?
Cuban revolution?
What the hey..?
All this blabbering is just delusional over-analysing.

Really, goddammit, actually Fallout was about the Christianity and The Vault Dweller... Umm, was, like Jesus, who saved everyone but was abandoned by his people. The vault dwellers were like jews! Yeah. Right. That's it! And, and... You know, Jesus went to desert and met Satan there. Just like The Vault Dweller finds evil satanick Master in the middle of deserted wasteland!

Oh god, I just got overwhelmed by my own geniusness and ability to analyse things throughoutly!

I don't like to be rude, actually I rather tend to be quite courteous man. But Akudin, if you just keep pulling ideas from your ass and talking about things you don't know a shit (I am not just referring this thread here...), please, I beg you good sir, to shut the fuck up.

Not at all - appearances alone - Set looks like a sixties radical with his beret. Masters headquarters with its Cathedral looks more like a cult than a communist or any other organisation. This IS a thread about Transhumanism and Master's ideology, so it's fair game, and I didn't bring the commie connection out, someone else did;. And Angrim, as to whether or not I know my shit, I actually lived and worked in Southern California for a while and surfed and breathed the lifestyle a la Pt. Break. I can tell you, a lot of California culture has made it into the Fallout, esp the first one, stuff you won't even recognize if you aren't familiar with the region.

That doesn't mean your over-analysing makes any sense at all. 'Cause it doesn't.

Liar:
"Modernism refers to a philosophy that human condition can be improved through technological innovation. At least two of the Modernist schools of art, tye Communist and the Nazi opposed the surreal and abstract as "decandent and degenerate", that's why even though surreal and abstract are considered part of the modern art, and post-modern, Modernism refers to something else which I already mentioned - forms of ideal or idealized reality."

And that has what to do with Transhumanism, modernism and rebellious influences on Fallout?

Set_0028.jpg

Oh, he looks very much like a sixties radical with his *beret*.

(Children of the) Cathedral was a made-up religion to cover up Master's plans and to spread his word to Wasteland. It *is* clearly a religious cult, which believes in Master's ideology. And this thread was about the possible transhumanism in Master's ideology. You just started to over-analyse things and talk about Modernism, Communism etc., which haven't got anything to do with it.

So fucking what? This has nothing to do with the topic

*EDIT*

"Down with cops!"

The thing that blew my mind with the Fallout, is the incredible level of sophistication on part of the people who wrote and drew the content, ***THAT*** is lost on you, Angrim as are a few other things. Fallout ***IS*** post nuke California, EVERY Fallout settlement and every quest in it that I came acrss comes out of the California history or how it was covered in popular fiction. Don't take my word for it, read any good history of California, places like Venice Beach, Haight and Ashbury, and others after WWII, and you will see a lot of it reflected in the Fallout game. Nothing in other CRPGs comes close.

The ghoul I saw in Necrpolis was wearing a beret and had a bandolier across his chest like Pancho Villa. But Hey! You ain't got to believe anything I say. Come out and see for yourselves, or, failing that you can trust in Bethesda and Brian Fargo to champion your interests and bring you the next installment. By gamers for gamers, uh-huh.

Yes, the game is set in a post-nuke California.
Now, please do tell what the fuck this has to do with the topic at hand.

Either you're a poor liar or your memory sucks. Go re-play Fallout and see for yourself. Or you could look at the talking heads page on this site and see, again, that you're full of shit.

That's neat.

I am not denying this at all. I never were. Why the hell would I, it's a FACT. But what has this got to do with transumanism? Or anything else on this thread?

I am really getting kinda speechless now. Do you self realize how you don't make any sense? You are over-analyzing stuff, you have factual errors all the time on your posts, you lie.

Ehh.

I don't quite "get" this.

I played the Fallout game 8-10 years ago, what do you expect? I saw what I saw, a beret wearing ghoul, it was a head and shoulders image, and the immediate impression I had was of the Black Panther Party. You can fume all you want, but it is you, who don't get the Fallout since you don't know the millieau or the context in which Fallout was written. The question you need to ask yourself is why this hostility on your part? Do you feel so threatened so as to be offensive? Why? Something doesn't jive with your view of the world? Is that it? Hostility will help you win support and make next Fallout game more possible?

Uh-huh. We don't get that the ghouls of Necropolis are actually the Black Panthers in disguise and that the Master is a communist. Wow, everything makes sense now! Let me just ask you something: was there also a pink deathclaw in the game?

Liar, liar, pants on fire! There *isn't* one.

You can fume all you want, but it is you, who don't get the Fallout since you don't know the millieau or the context in which Fallout was written.
Oh jeez. Now I don't get Fallout? Jesus, apparently not, because I didn't see the Black Panther Ghoul in Necropolis and didn't get it that the Master is a Communist

Fallout is a lot more than retrospective of Californian history in post-apocalyptic world. Just because I haven't lived in California doesn't mean I don't get Fallout. Goddamnit, really, you don't even remember what happened in Fallout and claim that you know The True Meaning Of Fallout because you've lived in California? Just read this thread a few times and see how you are clueless.

You have proven on these forums a few time your own ignorance.

Jesus H. Christ.

The question you need to ask yourself is why this hostility on your part? Do you feel so threatened so as to be offensive? Why? Something doesn't jive with your view of the world? Is that it?
I get easily irritated by people who try to be competent without knowing anything about the subject.

Hostility will help you win support and make next Fallout game more possible?
Umm... Say what? My so-called hostility towards you somehow could interfere the making on Fo3? Cool.

Then you're an idiot with poor memory since it has been proven conclusively to you that there *was no such fucking character*.
Now stop trolling.
Akudin said:

Eh...what? Give me a fucking break. You didn't even get the Master's plan and you're accusing *other people* of not getting Fallout because they don't know the 'millieau'[sic]? Give me a break.

No, but being offensive to a clear idiot is fun.

I know what I saw. I will prove you wrong and post that image on this thread once I find it.

Please do. Just make sure you're clean when you take a screenshot and post it here. Your perception tends to change under the influence of certain chemicals.

Who wants to bet five bucks that he'll "forget" about this thread?

Dude, the other day I saw a bunch of Supermutants singing the Soviet anthem to a new-age beat.

commiemutantsbl1.jpg

One can't comprehend English and the other hasn't got a clue. The Dynamic Duo if there ever was one....

Akudin, why can't you just admit that your a dumb ass, you know nothing about the game and are full of shit about the Ghoul?

Trying to fight your way out of this is pointless.
Just admit it.

You obviously played the game enough and Identified the Ghoul as Set who is not a very memorable name for someone who "supposedly" played the game 8-10 years ago.

So stop being a moron, You are full of shit.

So since you will never find a Beret wearing ghoul, Shut up, please.
