So, I am bored and I followed a few links, from facebook

Straczynski bringing sci-fi classic Babylon 5 back to life with movie reboot in 2016

And so I was thinking, what do you belive which TV series deserves a reboot? There have been really a few great gems in the past, at least in my opinion and I believe they would do really well with new high quality actors, studios and technology.

Like Babylon 5, what is Babylon 5? It is one of those old Sci-Fi TV shows with outdated CGI, somewhat strange actors - albeit they really did a decent job for their time! We are talking 1980s and 1990s here! Why would this series rock? Well it had a few really awesome concepts already back than, and it was not just a simple TV show it was somewhat pretty ambitious and the character development was pretty good.

I believe it would do very well today, its somewhat fresh and one can only imagine what a company like HBO or similar could do with it, considering you get the right actors, a good script and resources. Babylon 5 had many different characters and they had some real depth and good writing. I would love to see it done again.

Another Sci-Fi series that would deserve a Reboot of some sort is Space 2063: Above and Beyond, it is basically WW in space, if you want so. Just with Aliens in the roles of the Nazis. What sounds like Black and White becomes somewhat more complex as the show moves forward. And it is also touching on interesting subjects, like the status of clones and artifical inteligence in a modern society. It basically follows a group of Marines trough the war, sadly the show was canceled after the second season and it really didn't aged very well. But It would be awesome if it had the same bugdged like Band of Brothers/The Pacific.

Oh well, what more? McGuyver! and The A-Team also both cool TV shows which I feel deserve some Reboot. They would need some really good actors though.

So? What is your opinion. All just nostalgia? Or do you know some other TV shows that deserve a reboot!

I think they should start to make better, bolder and more creative new TV shows and stop gravedigging old ones. Same with the movies and the remakes. I hated the reboot of Knight Rider, it was a beloved TV show from my childhood, and when looking at old episodes one could see the cheesy things from the past, how they imagined futuristic technology to be, now anyone can have a GPS and thermal imagery to see trough walls, so it's not as cool, besides you have as a protagonist a guy that to me looks like a brat, and has nothing to do with what Michael Knight looked to me as a child.

My experience with reboots and remakes has always been negative.

Star Trek. Hands down.

Sliders is a favorite of mine. That could be interesting if done right.

A reboot of "Tour of Duty".
Basically a "Band of Brothers" in Vietnam.

well, it would not have to be a reboot, they could simply move forward in the timeline, like Next Generation did.

See, this is what I mean, more episodes with new crews, like on DS9 and Voyager, not a reeboot with Kirk and Spock or even Pickard and Riker, but a new series that moves forward in time.

Kind like what they want to do with Twin Peaks, not reboot the original story, but continue it.

that works only with shows where it make sense though, if the ending is leaving enough room to grow. Like with Star Trek.

Some shows really deserve a reboot! If done well of course.

I agree with Gonzalez in that TV as a whole needs more variety, not less. It is a dying media form after all....

But that said,I think Doctor Who in it's current form should be absolutely purged and rebooted.

When I say rebooted, I don't mean a soft reboot continuation as was the way in 2005, I mean a real reboot.

Start with Peter Capaldi as the new first Doctor, as I feel he has the capacity to play a great serious Doctor.

The show would be way more serious and slow paced, and would fully explore lots of different Science Fiction ideas and themes, instead of boring Monster of the Week in modern day London.

There'd be Historical episodes too, without Aliens or supernatural elements shoehorned in.

Ideally I'd like each episode to be a 45 minutes to an hour long, with two parts being the average for a story, particularly long stories would max at four parts.

It seems like too much, but the old show worked very well in that format.

I'd want it to be a legitimate science fiction show, the potential the setting brings is massive and it's always bothered me how poorly they utilize it.

Wasn't there some survey recently that concluded more people watch shows through Netflix then through Cable and traditional TV?

If you're referring to actual TV shows like Game of Thrones, no, they aren't dying. But TV channels and Cable are dying.
