Twin Peaks

Yeah, you don't skip the whole episodes. Just the part with James and the whore. That sub-plot is totally irrelevant.

After all the fuzz on this forum (and hearing about Twin Peaks for years) I decided to give it a try, since I never watched it.
Turned off the pilot episode before it finished, was too bored. Maybe that was due to it being quite long and the show picking up the pace after a few episodes, and the fact that I watched it in a generally uninterested state at the time.
Maybe I'll try again at some point...

Twin Peaks can't be given such a half hearted effort. It's like turning off The Thing before you see the spider-head. It helps to know what to expect.

It's a totally different mindset you need to watch this. This is not Game of Thrones, it's not Breaking Bad, and it sure does not spoon feeds you the plot like Stranger Things. I do acknowledge it might not be for everyone, it's a ride, you have to let it take you, it's not a fast paced, action filled, cliff hanger bait kind of show like most things people like today, it IS a cult show after all.

It has influenced and inspired many things that came after in TV, movies and video games.

Off the top of my head, games like Alan Wake, Deadly Premonition (again, a cult game) Life is Strange, and probably even Silent Hill would not exist today if it were not for Twin Peaks.

Plus it's meant to be corny. Wait until you see the soap opera on TV.

The usual TV show is like junk food, it's not really good for you but you like it.

Twin Peaks is like a three course meal with your significant other
The starter appeases your hunger and the main meal is the real deal.
You are then treated to a nice desert and then, full sex.

They have made fun of that in Alan Wake and Max Payne.

The more cock institute?

But like I said, it's not for everyone, it's a cult TV show, not everyone is atoned to find the hidden subtle awesomeness, nor have the time or the inclination to do it. I can picture a lot of people taking Twin Peaks too literally, and then it is kind like a corny soap opera with crazy pretentious things no one is meant to understand.

Ok, one more and it's the last one.

EDIT:

I lied. Hass, you decide if you want to see it now or as it appears, it has no plot spoilers though.

Because you most likely saw the Red Room in promotional stuff and already spoiled some of the mindfucks. I went in mostly free of any knowledge of the show minus one late night internet session where I briefly skimmed through the TV trope site.

While not a Lynch fan perse I won't be the contrarian cunt and shitpost in a thread on Twin Peaks. I did enjoy "The" Nine Inch Nails a lot though !

That is nice of you. Cheers.

:monocle:

Last episode was one of the weakest but still pretty good.

I felt the last episode was a weird contrast of dark and comedy.

It was one of the funniest episodes, but also one of the most uncomfortable to watch.

I liked it. I just feel like slapping Cooper across the face and snap him out of it. I regreat that we probably won't see a fully functional Coop until the season is over :(

My wife, "Wow, even semi-comatose, Cooper gets action."

"And with Naomi Watts."

Twin Peaks for the NES anyone?

I'm envisioning it exactly like Super Mario Brothers with coffee, cherry pie, and lots of jumping.

Levels will include One-Eyed Jacks, the Lake, and the Red Room.

Finally got caught up on the new season. It definitely has that "holy shit! Someone actually gave David Lynch money to make this" vibe that has been prevalent throughout his career. I mean that in the best possible way.
