Unique weapon

Frank Horrigan@BIS

Still Mildly Glowing
Should FO3 also contain its own SRE weapon, like FO1, 2 & tactics had?

What kind of damage should it do?

Alien Blaster did electric damage
red ryder le bb did normal damage
solar scrocher did laser damage
water gun did normal damage IF I remember it right.

Don't forget the 9mm Mauser and the .223 Pistol in Fallout. Oh, and the Louisville Slugger.

If you mean guns found in special encounters - no, unless these guns use rare ammunition.

You mean more made up weapons? Weapons that don't really exist (like the 14mm SiG Sauer - specific to the Fallout universe) or 'special' limited edition 'out of the ordinary' weapons?

Yes you're right but that weren't SRE found weapons.

Yeah, they weren't, but they were still unique. The Louisville Slugger is fairly tricky to get in Fallout 2, though.

I don't know why you'd want to limit it to special encounters, which are mostly random. Why not deal with the interesting weapons you don't have to spend hours on the world map to check out?

Of cause I want there to be other unique weapons, but I also want there to be at least one weapon that just can be found in a SRE (as in every other FO game), like the ones that I wrote up,

Where does everyone read that I supposely wrote that I just want them in SREs?

Of cause I want there to be other unique weapons, but I also want there to be at least one weapon that just can be found in a SRE (as in every other FO game) like the ones that I wrote up (the only ones).

I'm also sorry for the double post. If there would have been a delete option, I had erased it.

Not quite sure what exactly you mean here, but rest assured that I'm more keen on weapons unique (and fitting) of the Fallout setting rather than the latest thing from contemporary gunmakers (OMG!1 TEH OICW IS THE SHIZZIT; IWANT iT in FALlOuT 3!).

The .223 pistol, and to an extent the pipe rifle, are examples of the kind of weapons I'd like to see. Not homebrewed plasma guns.

Well, there's a difference between an gun, rifle or other kind of weapon that actually exists and a made-up weapon with a generic name, like minigun, rocket launcher, flamethrower, 10mm pistol, 10mm SMG, etc. etc.

Fallout 2 saw a bit more "real" or specified weaponry than Fallout 1, though the difference isn't significant.

Aye, aye, you're right there. Despite the existence of the BoS, Fallout 1 managed to more or less keep the feeling that "Oh my God this plasma rifle is freaking cool" because it was pretty unique, especially in its upgraded form.

I don't feel those supah-weapons should dissapear totally (though the bozar, most miniguns, and more so the guass and pulse rifles should), but rather there should be only one on the entire map, one you can salvage off the body of a fallen Brotherhood warrior deep in a...deathclaw-infested cave.

i suggest implementing some eastern weapons, like Kalashnykov, Zolya (that's a Russian LAW), Uzi and a BMP anti-infantry cannon converted into a portable gun. (the last one was a joke :P)

i also suggest implementing some super-powerful unique weapons like Railgun (the railgun technology already exists, and it should be the only gun in the game that can fire through walls and hit multiple targets) and Frank Horrigan's plasma rifle (it should be found in some kind of an SRE involving an old Enclave trooper named Jonah who dived into the sea when Enclave exploded, but instead of drowning he got swallowed by a giant whale and carried to the shore in the beast's belly together with horrigan's plasma rifle).

I thought we all agreed to quit the silly easter eggs?

Tech heads call Gauss rifle 'coilgun'.

A BIT? That's an understatement.

actually, i happen to love those silly easter eggs. i even found some that aren't mentioned on NMA easter eggs list, but i don't know who to report them to.

Time spent inserting easter eggs is time lost debugging broken scripts.

And time lost in figuring out how many other ways to skullfuck the Fallout universe, a la Chuck Cuervos.
