Could you make the generic intro stuff into a template, so we don't have to copy and paste it. Also all edits, will effect every page associated i.e. everything before "Insert your art below":

I'm on it boss :postviper:

This is a deal breaker for anything animated methinks.

10 clicks of a button, is better than the nothing we have right now.

Like Lexx said. One help page makes more sense. We should just drop that gumf onto the index page and forget the template. Sleep now.

Explain please. The long hair dude, for instance, contains 827 frm's.

Ouch. Yeah, that's a deal breaker. I don't think we can get around it.

edit

Okay, for major works like that we will need to link to an off-site host like NMA. Brother None I'm sure will be happy to add them to the FRM download section as usual.

edit

Hold off on upping any FRMs until Ghouly gives the all clear.

Even more of a 'hassle' than uploading to the old custom art repository... no luck for you Josan. :P

Well, you guys can always cut the middle-man out and upload straight onto atomic gamer. I always do that when adding a mod. BN adds them to the file section after.

Alright guys, I'm still fleshing out the details for this file hosting system on the Wiki, so give me a little time.

However, if animations you intend to post on there consist of 827 FRM's (:cough: Long Hair Dude :cough:), then I suggest this:

1) Post a few SAMPLES of the critter to the wiki, maybe one directinal animation from various sets, and put that on display
2) Upload a .rar archive, or whatever at NMA containing all of the animations
3) Include that DL link with the other ones on the Wiki.

I'm afraid that's the best you can do without having to upload every single animation. Still, I think this should draw some publicity to our beloved wiki, which IMO is very neglected.

Wouldn't it be easier to make many pack of things?
Like put all the stuff from X'ils thread in one pack uploaded somewhere on atomic, and then put the link with a few samples and credit on the wiki?
I think the wiki need to deliver an advantage compared to the other solution. Here it would be not to have to download all the stuff from the forum one by one...

The other solution would be to convince Killap to put all the fallout art ever produced in his build (or have someone do it for him). This way, all a new modder would have to do would be to direct the mapper to this version of the rp. All the arts in the RP can pretty much considered safe and sound, since it is downloaded by thousands of people...

Just mi two cents.

my site has a 2 gig trafic a month before im charged extra,if you would like i can host the larger bundles,i have lots of space,i can even setup some one with info to a page for the art(allowing them to change the page),not a big deal either way(ie i dont give a shit),was pretty damn cheap to re-up it too,not even 100 for 5 years

I think it’s important that the FRM’s are built correctly, so all files will need the correct working frame off set numbers – that way people can just grab and use. For group files (Tiles and Critters) people will need to download the entire body, while (Scenery – Items)…they can download the individual files.

As for downloading individual tiles - this is not practical – the new greenhouse roof in the EPA for instance has over 200 tiles. Nevertheless I think we should go with this, and workout the best way to download ZIPPED files later (Links). Anyway good work Tom.

I'm in love with whoever made that building...

Anyway guys, I'm still working on making things work at the wiki, and I can now say that 7 hours of straight wiki editing is not good for human eyes... :tired:

I just have to establish some categories now, and you guys can have at it. Once Tom wakes up, you guys can converse with him about how this is going to work. For now, I'm so tired I'm falling asleep in my chair, and I have only 6 hours until school comes around again.

I guess this is my goodnight to NMA... a grumpy one at that :wtf:

P.S. @Tom, when you read this, know that I did not make all of the links on the wiki yet because of other issues I was ironing out. Just look at the Custom Art - Hero Female page to see what to do, or if it's too much, just wait for me to get back from school tomorrow, and I will finish it all.

Thanks for the offer, but the issue is still the same. We need an easy solution. I think it is better for everyone to upload FRM packs to atomic gamer, as it takes a few seconds, and the stuff is left on there forever as far as I can tell. I don't know how else we can address this issue.

I tried upping a rar to the wiki, renamed *.frm, but wikia is not stupid :(
